PD Clifford found a burglary suspect who tried to hide in a shed. You might make a joke about a shed being the best place for a tool but we won't 🤐 Instead we'll share that his next hiding place was under the blanket in a police cell!
PD Dixon attended a decamp from a crashed stolen moped where 3 offenders had run away. 1 was caught by land cops and the other 2 were seen in the woods by air cops. PD Dixon was sent in to negotiate their surrender & they came out with their hands up.
Great work Dixon 💪🏻
A male arrested for stalking tried to hide evidence by throwing his phone into brambles & seemed to succeed. Officers spent over 30 mins trying to locate it. Cue PD Chip showing them how its done - within mins of arriving Chip had found it & shown his chauffeur where it was.
When a domestic abuser reportedly assaulted & strangled their former partner fled into a wooded area near the scene it could have taken hours for 2 legged officers to find him. It took PD Kylo about 20 min & he gently persuaded them to accompany him to a waiting police van 🚓
♠️ PD Ace is a new recruit, licensing a few months ago. He attended a decamp after a pursuit. Ace put his amazing sense of smell to use - tracking through fields + trees. Sadly he didn't catch his suspect, BUT he did find his clumsily dropped wallet containing his ID. Oooops 👀
PD Cleo massively appreciates all the supportive comments she's received on our last post after finding five burglars hiding in a cupboard. Several comments told her she was a 'good boy' 👀 Cleo's response is below:
🐕 PD Cleo searched a disused office building after reports of an intruder. While searching the third floor Cleo suddenly became very interested in a cupboard in which she found FIVE burglars (presumably hoping to escape to Narnia) hiding inside.
🧸 PD Bear assisted with a search after a driver failed to stop and decamped on foot. While his two-legged colleagues got to the driver first (lucky for him), Bear found a load of deal bags containing a powder that we're confident isn't for laundry! Driver was arrested for PWITS
PD Walton, 1 of our Drugs, Currency and Firearms Detection Dogs, has been smashing it. 1st he helped officers searching for a gun and found a quantity of controlled drugs leading to 3 arrests. On his next job he found wads of cash, totalling over £10k as well as heaps of drugs.
🥷 What do you get if you're hapless burglars who think hiding will help you and come face to face with PD Armour hiding in the shadows when you try to leave?
A free ride... ✅
An all-inclusive stay... ✅
Fresh underwear... probably
3 in custody for burglary!
PD Ghost was recently haunting the motorways with our @roadpoliceBCH colleagues. He ended up spooking the driver of stolen high value luxury car who clearly wasn't expecting an otherworldly visitation. 1 frightened thief taken away in cuffs and probably a very grateful owner!
On a Saturday afternoon, in a busy park filled with families and dog walkers, PD Pumba was tasked with searching for a discarded weapon used to threaten a victim.
Pumba worked through multiple distractions and located both a bladed article and heavy tool used by the suspect 💪
This week we say a fond farewell to Molly and Bonnie, a sister duo who have served with us for the last 5 years with their respective handlers.
We hope they have a long, healthy and happy retirement 🐾💙
This week we welcome 4 new colleagues to the Dog Unit. Congratulations to (clockwise from top left) PDs Chip, Rex, Groot & Ace and their handlers on passing their initial course - soon to be hitting the streets of Beds, Cambs and Herts!
PD Bonnie conducted a search of gardens after a suspect wanted for domestic violence offences made off from the scene. His hide and seek skills were no match for Bonnie's nose and he was located performing a 'plank' on top of a wall. How appropriate!
Introducing a fleeing criminal's worst nightmare - Airsharks!
Our Firearm Support Dogs had the opportunity to team up with our airbourne colleagues today. PDs Armour and Bear took a ride with @NPASSouthEast to experience flight in advance of any necessity to deploy from the air!
