This thread represents the best of us. Do not believe that Evangelicals are all haters! We love the Lord, love people and want to see justice prevail against oppression, as Christ freed the captives
Okay, I ran late to the Evangelicals for Harris zoom call so I missed the first 20 minutes.
I just got in. Lisa Sharon Harper is speaking. Chat is disabled -- probably smart given the trolls.

BREAKING: Muliple women are reporting similar things in Texas
They’re saying that their voter registration is in “suspense” meaning somebody challenged their voter registration.
Thanks to @AshleyDCan we’re reporting this. What’s going on Texas?

for those not following the news today, there’s a Republican member of Congress who harassed a female staffer into sending him naked pictures, and after he rebuffed her pleas to stop, she set herself on fire and died. Speaker Johnson has no problem with this man in his caucus.

This should be a bigger story.
ICE detained a father when he stepped outside his apartment to pick up dinner. His 6-year-old daughter was left alone. Neighbors later found her outside, crying in the street, asking for her father.
If any local law enforcement agency conducted an operation and left a child without supervision, there would be investigations, accountability, and consequences. That is what the public would rightly demand.
So where is the accountability here?
No matter your views on immigration policy, a 6-year-old child should never be left alone and vulnerable because of a federal enforcement action.
Basic standards of care and common sense still matter.

ICE deports Florida pastor's wife—even though judge issued stay of deportation order.
She was denied her medication—shackled by wrist, stomach & ankles—leaving severe bruising.
"We paid everything they asked us, filled out forms, and not skipping anything," her daughters said.
That didn't stop ICE from deporting her back to Mexico, "With only the clothes on her back."
Agents refused to take her to a court where she could plead her case saying, "That's not our job."
Maria Isidro was approved for an I-130—also called a Petition for Alien Relative—to secure her legal status in 2023.

As a cop I’ll get chewed out by admin if I don’t immediately recite my name and badge number to anyone who asks for it, and i better have my name tag visible and face uncovered
I… don’t really see why ICE should have an exemption when they’re regularly arresting people

Maybe it’s just me, but I’d much rather have an entire undocumented immigrant family with two happy trans kids living right next door to me than a white supremacist or a racist MAGA lunatic any day of the week.

BREAKING: ICE agents are complaining that every time they go out wearing masks in unmarked cars with no uniforms or identification as law enforcement to abduct people, protesters keep dumping pounds of glitter on them so that everyone can tell they’re ICE for days afterwards.

Now we’re deporting pastor’s wives who have been living peacefully in the US since the Clinton administration.
This is cruel.

President Obama deported 3 million people and managed to do so without using stormtroopers and the National Guard.
Like everything else, Obama was better at that too.
I’m just gonna leave this here in case anyone wants to register (or register and protest instead of attending 🤭)
