#recovery is earned through effort and action. We must work & walk through the fear, pain, trauma, shame, dark days & nights to break free from the addiction. A personal journey supported by love & inspired guidance....
Recovery is not straight out possible...it is only made possible with opportunity, resourceful support & with spaces of connection, empathy & identification. Without these it's another day in the abyss of chaos, isolation & suffering. There are so many suffering across our UK cities, unreached by our systems. A complete systemic failure.
#ActionOnAddiction - it's time to fix our #drug & #alcohol treatment systems, it's not working for many communities across the land.
Time for honest conversations, looking the other way, tokenising communities & hiding behind EDI 'tick boxes' serves no one.
A Huge thank you to the 3 brave commissioners, national addiction charity managers & colleagues in NHS England for their candid honesty about systemic inequities. But they must speak out openly, We cannot do it alone...

Untreated addictions in ethnic minority & marginalised communities is on the increase, this is often compounded by the mistrust of treatment services, leaving many families to live in an existential crisis.
We need equitable treatment & recovery services, without these much of the addiction treatment & commisioning sector remain complicit in the demise of many who suffer daily without the right help.
