The Election Commission of India (EC) has informed the Supreme Court that over 37 lakh of a total 38 lakh appeals arising out of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal are still pending in 19 Tribunals. The EC said that only 1,02,231 appeals have been disposed of so far.

On PM Modi's 76th birthday, five major papers ran identical front-page tributes, naming him “India's Pride: A conscientious Prime Minister.” Meanwhile, Dainik Bhaskar published an entire "special edition" page of felicitations with no advertorial tag.
Interestingly, The Hindu, in both its Delhi and Chennai editions, carried no birthday advertisements at all.

What exactly is offensive about her words?
They are blessings and prayers, spoken from a place of affection, faith and care.
She did not explicitly glorify the nation. But she prayed for her fellow citizens.
That, too, is an expression of patriotism - rooted in compassion, faith and goodwill - one that the bhakts will never understand.
Some social media accounts had criticised the officer for using Islamic greetings in a social media video instead of saying ‘Vande Mataram’ or ‘Jai Hind’.
