🚨 KEEP AN EYE ON JAPAN.
Something potentially very important is developing.
Japan is trying to secure its energy supply at exactly the moment when the yen sits at the center of one of the largest funding trades on Earth.
And there is one question nobody should ignore:
What if part of Japan’s oil trade starts settling directly in yen?
First, let's separate fact from speculation.
Yen-denominated oil settlement has NOT been confirmed.
But Japan's energy problem is very real.
Oil prices surged, Japan's crude import bill exploded, and the BoJ has now raised rates to 1.25% — the highest level in 31 years. Reuters
Now follow the money.
Japan imports enormous amounts of energy.
In the traditional dollar-based system, the basic chain looks like this:
JPY → USD → OIL
Japan needs dollars to pay dollar-denominated energy bills.
That creates recurring demand for dollars against yen.
But what happens if you remove part of the middle step?
Imagine:
JPY → OIL
If some suppliers or intermediaries begin accepting yen directly, Japan needs fewer dollars for that portion of its energy imports.
Counterparties receiving yen then have a reason to hold, spend or recycle those yen.
That could remove some structural FX pressure from the yen.
Not all of it.
But potentially enough to matter at the margin.
And THIS is where it gets interesting.
The yen carry trade was built around a beautifully simple assumption:
Borrow cheap yen.
Sell the yen.
Buy higher-yielding assets elsewhere.
It works wonderfully...
until the funding currency starts strengthening and the cost of funding rises.
Remember August 2024?
Now look at the setup.
BoJ rate: 1.25%.
Japanese monetary policy is tightening.
The yen is already sensitive to intervention.
Japanese energy costs have surged.
And global bond markets are dealing with higher yields.

Now add the hypothetical missing piece:
Oil settlement in yen.
Less need to sell yen for dollars
→ less structural yen pressure
→ potential yen appreciation
→ more expensive carry trade
→ leveraged positions unwind
→ assets get sold.
That is the rabbit hole.
And it reaches far beyond Japan.
Again:
Yen-denominated oil settlement is NOT confirmed.
But if confirmation arrives, I won't be watching oil first.
I'll be watching:
USD/JPY.
JGB yields.
U.S. Treasuries.
Because sometimes the most dangerous part of the oil trade isn't the oil.
It's the currency used to pay for it.

Sixty-five years later, Trump drops this video on Truth Social. No commentary needed. The speech does all the work. And within hours, the same media outlets that spent four years calling Trump a conspiracy theorist are suddenly very quiet.
Here’s what they don’t want you to connect:
- Kennedy was assassinated 2.5 years after this speech
- The Warren Commission was a joke — even the House Select Committee on Assassinations in 1979 concluded Kennedy was “probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy”
- The files are STILL classified
- Trump has been pushing to release them, but the permanent national security state refuses, instead slow-walking the order
The timing isn’t random. This isn’t just history. JFK described a permanent national security state that has only grown more entrenched — one that operates beyond elections, beyond accountability, beyond the reach of voters.
Kennedy called it “a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific, and political operations.”
That machine didn’t disappear when he died. It got even stronger.
Trump reposting this isn’t nostalgia. It’s a signal. The same forces JFK warned about are the same forces that tried to destroy Trump — Russiagate, two impeachments, lawfare, media blackout, assassination attempts. The playbook hasn’t changed. Only the names.
