Kind words from a brilliant writer.

Dark history, violent death made Elkin levels of funny, structured in a delightfully chaotic triple-layer narrative sandwich. Felt like I hit the jackpot whenever I opened the book, so clear a case it makes that we are living in a literary golden age but too benighted to know it.

Meiselman was into micro aggressions before it was cool. Thank you for this wonderful review!

Very gratifying to see Meiselman still winning hearts and minds.

[1/2] One recent and, erm, "authorit"-ative critical text might assert otherwise, but I say that the secret of criticism does not lie as much in the ability to form Judgements as to set aside one's judgements &affinities so that one can recognize originality (&new affinities)...

I’ve seen a bunch of posts today about it being the anniversary of Itzik Feffer’s murder, and not one has mentioned the role hemorrhoids may have played in it. Read more about it in my novel about Feffer: amazon.com/gp/aw/d/173634469…

My publisher isn’t trying to puff me up by calling me “prominent.” Read the interview and you’ll understand.

"In Jews-Like-Dead-Jews books a letter is always discovered, unexpectedly, in a musty attic, tucked inside a trunk, or sometimes it’s between the pages of an old book. In this Jews-Like-Dead-Jews book it’s through an impulsive act of sharing by a professor."

What a pleasant surprise. Loved this one. Has anyone heard of this writer or this book, which is actually two novellas?

The Granta controversy seems in line with my observation that the writers who warn us about the threat of AI are the very ones whose work reads like it.

The more a writer reads like AI, the more likely they are to write about AI as a threat to literature.

Finished The Delegation by @AvnerLandes last night. This lopsided triptych of a novel is a great time. It's brilliantly constructed, refreshingly funny, and emotionally resonant all at once. AND... Avner writes a wonderful sentence. To accomplish all in one book is a rare feat.
