Bonjour 👋
I’ve been working on something new following a visit to the @V_and_A with @mattdesl.
We were introduced to the museum's collection by the curators, and I found myself thinking about how artists have used computation to explore form, colour and space.
Those conversations became the starting point for a new work, created with @avant_arte for the V&A's Digital Art Season and the upcoming Vera Molnar exhibition.
Also, biggest kudos to @proofofgail ♥️

I had some time this weekend to reflect on my 2024 solo show Growing up that took place in Seoul in collaboration with Avant Arte. To date it remains as one of my most intimate bodies of work. In the series I explore life from the point of view of an Asian American child growing up in the United States. It is a story that many children/people have faced, a journey on finding unique identity with multiple backgrounds. In the series I focus on landscapes inspired by my time briefly living and working in the New England region with Americana themed works mixed in with more intimate home settings. Each piece has a little part of my own personal life experiences in it. There is something that everyone can take away whether it's the underlying message and themes or simply the visual appeal of the works themselves. Thankful that the show had sold out with all physical and digital works finding a home. Avant Arte as always has been a wonderful partner and has truly helped shape part of my print/physical market.

Some ongoing thoughts of my paintings as of recent. Has been an extremely rewarding experience continuing on my themes from digital to physical native mediums. One specific goal I have had when moving to painting has been to NOT simply recreate what I could through my digital practice. What point would there be to create precision/polygon based works if it could never come even close to the mathematical exactness as vectorized art. Strokes with paint have become much more abstract. With a focus on creating landscapes with mixed colors and directions. A stark contrast from how I create digitally.
Thematically I have placed the majority of my focus on landscape and agriculture. The moments and lives lived through agriculture defined industries. Signage also has been a big interest of mine. Re-exploring some inspirations I had from my initial inspirations from Pop Art.
*will plan to intermittently talk about a lot of my paintings but this is just a good start *
