Amazon just revealed their new smart lock, and here's my initial take on what will definitely be a very popular device for Ring camera owners...

Well, I bought @Apple Homeview. I feel like Canada is too expensive. $450 to go pick it up from a store. Woof.

This.
Apple Homeview with or without the base is priced at $299. How come most accessories are more expensive? It's like the iPhone case is more expensive than the iPhone. 🔔 Video Doorbell — $249.95 📹 Outdoor Camera — $299.95 💡 Floodlight Camera — $399.95 🔐 Smart Door Lock — $349.95

Automaters! Apple just held its Welcome home event and they finally showed up with real smart home hardware, a smart display, a new Apple TV, a HomePod mini and a lineup of locks, cameras and thermostats... so let me walk you through what's worth it and what I'd actually buy

HomePod mini 2 lands at $149, and honestly the HomeView and mini pricing feels reasonable to me, while the Apple TV price is a stretch... so if your Apple TV already runs your home, I'd keep it and put that $299 toward a HomeView or some Matter gear

Apple's Greg Joswiak posted "Welcome home. October 13." on Thursday, so Tuesday is confirmed by Apple, but what actually shows up is still reporting, mostly from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg... here's what I'm expecting and how I'd think about it if you're shopping right now

As for LG and Homey from Wednesday's thread, the LG stuff likely isn't coming until next year... we might get some details Tuesday and that might be exciting, but I wouldn't expect any actual devices from LG

All of this comes from Mark Gurman's reporting, who also says a second Apple event is coming Oct 27 with touch-screen MacBooks, an OLED iPad mini and the M6 MacBook Pro and iMac, worth a read here xitter.cf/markgurman/status/2108…
