I spend a fair bit of time in historic racing, as many know and so I talk to a serious quota of ‘greatest generation’ racing drivers.
Here’s a few things millennials like me should really note - they are in their 70’s/80’s now…
They arrive on time without fail, (I’m talking - to the literal minute) explain patiently and quietly with zero pretence despite objectively terrifying feats/stories.
They minimise their own and maximise everyone else’s contribution to their usually significant results and achievements. And often tell the story from somebody else’s perspective
These are people forged by different world. Roll your eyes as much as you want, we need to grab their view of the world before it’s gone.
Seems that the lack of overtaking in @F1 was a topic of conversation back in 1996 as well.

Remembering the one & only Stirling Moss, born this day in 1929, he should have been our cover star on many occasions, but was never crowned @F1 World Champion. He won an incredible 212 races across many categories, including 16 GP's, even contributing to @Autocourse1 in '51.
We do love trawling through our archives, here are a few familiar faces from our 1996 edition. @HillF1, Damon's wife Georgie and @F1 royalty, the one and only @AnnieBWansford
Formula 1 and the FIA have announced the 2027 FIA @F1 World Championship calendar, featuring 24 Grands Prix across 22 countries and 10 Sprint events. No real surprises except for a 'Sprint' race in Monaco, seems a strange choice considering the tight nature of the track.
Our latest digital edition is here, it's the 1994 edition with the usual incisive @f1 coverage. The tragic events at Imola are detailed with tributes to @instayrtonsenna including a thoughtful piece by Autocourse Editor, Alan Henry. autocoursearchive.iconpublis…

The last Italian to win the @F1 Italian GP was Ludovico Scarfiotti in a @ScuderiaFerrari as you can see in our archive. Can @KimiAntonelli do the job in his @MercedesAMGF1 at Monza this afternoon. autocoursearchive.iconpublis…
On this Day 60 years ago, 4 September 1966, @F1 produced one of the most evocative Italian Grand Prix stories of the 1960s: Ludovico Scarfiotti won at Monza for @ScuderiaFerrari in front of the home crowd, while Jack Brabham clinched the F1 World Championship.
The Hungarian GP was always a favourite with @F1 fans who travelled far and wide to be there, especially during those early years from '86.
Surprising who you bump into at the local garage, @MBrundleF1 filling up his @McLarenF1 MP4/9 Peugeot with @Shell's finest. From our '94 edition.

Will be hot at Assen this weekend, so here's a reminder of how the long, hot summer of '76 affected Assen 50 years ago. "Many riders found the temperatures, which reached the mid-30s, too hot for racing. Worst affected was sidecar winner Hermann Schmid, who collapsed and momentarily his heart stopped beating."

If you know, YOU KNOW! One of the most sought after books on sponsorship by the master himself, it retailed for £100 at the time, sold out in weeks. RIP Guy Edwards.
The last time three British drivers stood on an @F1 podium, the US GP at Watkins Glen, October 6th, 1968. Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill and John Surtees. tinyurl.com/Autocourse-Archi…
