Peter was a bright light for a lot of people, myself included. The world feels a bit emptier without him now.

Heartbroken to hear about the passing of Peter Cullen.
Peter was a huge part of my childhood. His voice as Optimus Prime was the reason I fell in love with Transformers as a kid, and that love and inspiration has stayed with me my entire life.
He didn’t just give Optimus a voice, he gave him heart.
Through Optimus, Peter taught generations of kids what it meant to be strong, honorable, compassionate, and courageous. His incredible voice carried a sense of warmth and humanity that made Optimus feel like more than a character. He felt like a hero you could truly believe in.
One of Peter’s most meaningful lessons was simple:
“Be strong enough to be gentle.”
Thank you, Peter, for inspiring my imagination as a kid and for giving us a hero who became such an important part of so many of our lives.
Your voice and legacy will live on forever.
Rest in peace, Peter Cullen.

We were saddened to learn of the passing of the great Peter Cullen. It was always such an honor for us at ILM to hear Peter’s mighty voice breathe life into our work on Optimus Prime. Our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and all who looked up to him.

In 2023, Peter Cullen received a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by his longtime friend Frank Welker on behalf of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Peter gives an incredibly powerful and emotional acceptance speech, thanking friends, colleagues, and you.
