Have tweeted this before, but my lesson from the Grid/Messenger experience was that if you write stuff on the internet for a living, you should be keeping a backup of your work.
I use Authory but I'm sure there are other methods out there.

This is *exactly* why I pay $99 a year to store my stories on @Authory. I’ve had 2 publications close & 2 more that erased my past stories. Authory saves them so they never disappear. I do NOT get anything from Authory; I just want y’all to have a home for your work. #journalism

I am putting a nearly complete archive of my published work online as an @Authory portfolio. This includes my essays on music in @newrepublic in the 1980s. I will gradually be adding my reviews and essays in @nyt as well. Essays will also be grouped by publication: authory.com/EdwardRothstein

FWIW this is where @Authory shines and they usually honor free trials for those impacted by layoffs or in this case mass publication folds. Highly recommend.

The @IBMSecurity Intelligence publication was closed earlier this year. I didn't lose all my hard work thanks to @Authory 💾
Sadly, I have worked for a lot of brand publications that were shuttered without warning.

“Can you send over a few relevant writing samples?”
It’s a simple request. Until the pieces you’re proudest of disappear from the web.
@kat_boogaard learned this the hard way, and she’s put together a super practical guide with five ways to make sure it never happens to you.

My girlfriend was using my Roccat Savu mouse - which I was shocked to see I reviewed 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒆𝒏 years ago - and it finally kicked the bucket.
Shout out to @Authory for having that review (and 4,857 other pieces) backed up, as it was taken offline!

As a freelancer regularly juggling at least 10 clients, it's hard to stay on top of articles going live. I ❤️ that @Authory emails me when one of my bylined articles goes live. Check out their portfolios for freelancers w/ my link: authory.com/DianaKelly/invit…

Two of my favorite brands teaming up? A dream.
Sometimes, two companies with different offerings find they are actually having a very similar mission. That is exactly how we at Authory feel about @beehiiv.
So, when the opportunity came to partner up as part of their Media Collective program and help more journalists become independent, it was a no-brainer for us.

It can be surprisingly difficult to find a good portfolio platform as a journalist, but Authory has got you covered. Automatically updating whenever — and wherever — you publish an article, it ensures everything is backed up & always ready to share. 🔗 bit.ly/40GYN6i #AD

True story.
@beehiiv offered @Authory as an ad opportunity for @LatNewsletter last week. When I checked out its offering (a self-updating work portfolio), I not only agreed to the newsletter sponsorship but also became a customer. This is what $24/month gets you.

We lose our work when:
• Articles & bylines get updated
• Publications shut down
• Archives get purged
• Links break
You deserve to have access to your work. You'll need it to secure your next client. But you must back your work up in advance. That's why I recommend @Authory!
