Pretty sure having the former DPP as the Leader of the Opposition means we crossed that particular Rubicon a long, long time ago. What's one more spook in the Official Spooks' Party.

Debated posting it here, but... neil-clarke.com/a-concerning… This is a problem for short fiction submissions and it's not just going to go away. The link goes into details, but this is a graph of submission bans since 2019. Plagiarism and bot-written spam.

dammm, today's story from @melling_dan is smart & funny & weird & clever & stunning. pretty much every sentence surprised me anew in such a satisfying way. "How about a story written in the past unreal conditional? Like, *if she hadn’t been kidnapped...*" havehashad.com/hadposts/idea…

Banks don't lend out people's savings. Stop teaching undergraduates that they do. It is fundamentally and dangerously wrong.
Here's how we teach the Diamond-Dybvig model to first-year undergraduates (from the Stevenson-Wolfers textbook):

I’ve come up with an interim solution to the queuing issue to see the Queen’s coffin in Westminster, let me know what you think, it’s not perfect but I don’t see anyone else coming up with anything

We happen to think the opinion of a boss who is paid 7000X more than his employees is literal trash.
NEW: Amazon CEO Andy Jassy tells CNBC that he opposes the union drive by Amazon workers. "We happen to think they're better off not" joining a union, he said. Jassy was paid $212 million last year, more than 7000 times the median Amazon worker.

Amazing conversion to the cause of migrants entering Britain here from The Times. I can’t quite put my finger on why.

Full statement on why colleagues and I are voting against the cuts in this year’s budget: As a matter of personal conscience and political judgement, we have come to the decision that we have no choice but to vote against this year’s Liverpool City Council budget on 2nd March.

Incidentally, the appeasement of Hitler is commonly misunderstood. Conservatives across Europe saw him as a bulwark against Bolshevism. They didn’t appease him because they were scared of him, but because they were scared of the Russians (ironically) & their own working classes.

Let's stop calling them "sanctions". It's economic warfare that affect 2 billion people, unlike conventional war you can't fight back, it is a crime against humanity that targets civilians, it is war.

Hope everyone’s having an absolutely beautiful weekend. The 2020’s are about to roar, and there’s fuck all governments, corporations, algorithm nonces and other controllers can do about it. It’s in the air, filtering into the subconscious of humanity. We’re getting ready to rock!

It’s amazing watching the increasing moral outrage from liberals over cheese and wine parties while they ignore or even propagate mass murder by social cleansing
