I sent this picture in to the city, asking them to reduce lane width by 1 ft each (from 12ft to 11ft) so that they could expand the sidewalk on the bridge from 2.5ft to 4.5ft. Response "most strollers will fit, widening sidewalk is not feasible". AADT is 8000.
I decided 4 months ago to leave all social media, signed out everywhere, because it was just too time consuming and exhausting and I wanted to be focused on my kids not find myself distracted all the time. It worked, I'm so much happier. Give it a try. Signing off again 😁

ICE / CBP executed a man who was trying to help a woman in distress.
He was maced. He was assaulted. He was shot at about 14 times.
He never reached for his weapon.
He was a licensed CHL.
He was murdered by a federal agent.

In Chicago, four vehicles descended and eight ICE agents moved in to kidnap a child.
She screams, “I’m 15,” as ICE yanks her from the car and kneels on her neck.
This is not about immigration enforcement.
It's about terrorizing Americans.

We are in an authoritarian state. Just because it isn’t happening to you or people who look like you doesn’t mean it isn’t true.

If he *actually* cared about waste and duplication then why is he making public works spend millions of taxpayer dollars to remove already built infrastructure?

Once again, the government taking stakes in private companies to expand its control is closer to textbook socialism than anything we saw during the Biden administration. Would be nice if more of the GOP’s socialism hawks would say so.

Once more an overgrown, unmaintained property finally receives a yellow notice from the city. OH WAIT: this lot is the @HouPublicWorks SW water treatment plant. The city of @HoustonTX is now issuing violation notices to itself. 😂😂😂 Can't wait to check if it is mowed by Oct 8.

If this is how ICE will treat your elected officials in a hospital while being videotaped, imagine the brutal force they are using elsewhere when no one is watching. This is a blatant attack on due process and constitutional rights.

It’s with very good reason that we highlight the successful approaches of European cities whose enlightened drug policies have successfully reduced drug OD fatalities AND drug-related harms to public order.
👉 ALL OF THEM employ a ZERO TOLERANCE approach to drug-related public nuisances;
👉 ALL OF THEM employ police dispersing tactics — including custodial arrests and drug confiscation — to shut down open-air drug scenes; and
👉 80% OF THEM expel nonresidents for drug-related lawlessness. (3/5)

Today we raced the Red Line. We moved through downtown, stopping at every red light, and still tied the train. Transit should always beat walking. Why change what's worked for 20+ years?

In 18 years as an ER doc, I ask about immigration status about as often as I ask about insurance—which is never
My job is to respond to the person in front me, as if neither immigration or insurance matters
Because in that moment, neither of those things matter
So tell me, what do Americans want me to do when the person dying before me is undocumented? Let them die?
And what if they’re uninsured? Check that they’ve paid their monthly dues before I check their pulse?
We should stop making this an argument about providing emergency care to certain populations
And start asking how it reflects on us all if we’re truly willing to withhold care in those moments of emergency, just because of what a piece of paper might or might not say

In this raid, they dragged naked children out of their homes and put them into U-Haul vans. And now they're bragging about it.
U.S. citizens had their doors smashed down and were forced into handcuffs and held outside for hours. Senior citizens held outside, their homes trashed.
This is what MetroNow could and should be. They could test this concept on the university line for a tiny fraction of the cost of what the full BRT build cost would have been. @METROHouston
Replying to @bradleywthomas @andr_w
Albany's Bus Plus routes are basically this and provide great service despite not being true BRT.
CDTA is one of the few agencies with greater ridership now than pre-pandemic, evidence this should be the model instead of focusing on one premium BRT corridor
