Court documents describe deplorable conditions, with insects throughout the home and one officer reportedly struggling to breathe inside. But the allegations go far beyond the living conditions. Richard Carter, 45, and Green Schindler, 63, each face first-degree rape and human trafficking charges. Schindler is also charged with first-degree sodomy and incest. Sarah Carter, 28, and Mark and Matthew Brumbaugh, both 30, face incest charges. Other defendants face criminal abuse-related charges. All seven children have been placed in the care of Social Services.
