Read my report of the Lenten Retreat on Hieromonk Seraphim Rose this past Sunday at Holy Virgin Cathedral (ROCOR) in San Francisco.
A very significant and beautiful event with two revered clerics who knew Fr. Seraphim personally.

As a Jewish convert to Orthodox Christianity I want to state one thing clearly: the Orthodox voices clutching their pearls about “antisemitism” don’t speak for me and I never asked them to. As I’ve been saying since long before “October 7th,” the primary cause of antisemitism is Jewish behavior. It isn’t hatred or gentile psychopathology.
On that note, I also don’t trust anyone who only began criticizing Jews or Israel once the topic became safe and popular. If you knew the truth and didn’t say it because you were worried about monetization or censorship, you’re a coward and I’ll never respect you.

Back in April, a front desk lady at my local gym began wearing a “gay pride” pin to her job. I complained to a member of the City Council about it and was told in no uncertain terms that it was perfectly allowed for her to display sexualized political symbols at work, where hundreds of families and children pass her desk each day.
Yesterday I walked in and lo and behold — her new coworker was wearing a tranny flag pin in addition to the main lady wearing her gay pin. I felt the swell of anger and desire to confront them but decided to consider it during my workout before saying anything.
I thought about it during my ride on the stationary bike and decided it was time for a conversation. Though in general I don’t like confronting people in this manner, I decided the only reason this kept happening is because nobody else was saying or doing absolutely anything about it. I thought of the Lorax, specifically the ending, and the revelation of why his pedestal said “Unless.” At the end of the story its message is revealed: “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better — it’s not.”
I decided to care a whole awful lot.
I confronted the two women and began to record them, which I am perfectly allowed to do, with the intention of bringing the video to a City Council meeting and making it public knowledge that city employees are wearing that garbage in front of kids. I was told I needed permission to film (no I don’t) and that they “didn’t appreciate” what I was doing (I don’t care). They got some man in the back to come confront me and save them, and he told me he was going to have me trespassed (he can’t) for harassment (which I was definitionally not doing). I know the laws.
I asked point-blank whether if I wore Nazi paraphernalia at the gym I would be defended as zealously as he was defending the alphabet people, and after saying he “hoped I wouldn’t do that” told me that yes I’d be within my rights. I told him I didn’t believe him for a second and would be speaking with the Mayor about the situation.
I went back today and the usual suspect was at the desk. For the first time I can remember — no pin. A death glare, but no pin. She watched me everywhere I went in the gym, scowling. I like to think they finally decided it wasn’t worth the headache and trouble just to shove gay tranny propaganda down the throats of kids anymore.
All it took was one person to finally stand up for what’s right and not allow himself to be bullied by people whose actions are detrimental to society. These people are not used to it; they think they’ve won. It’s beyond time to remind them that things are changing now.
All you have to do is care a whole awful lot.

Happy 4th of July!
A great work from Metropolitan Philaret on how to be a Christian patriot. This is from a larger work called On the Law of God.

We worship an ethnic Hebrew who preferred to go by an intentionally universal title, “Son of Man,” who decreed the destruction of the Jewish Temple (Matthew 24:2), personally ended kosher law (Mark 7:19), retired the Old Covenant and gave us a new one in His own blood (Hebrews 8:13, Luke 22:20), called the founders of modern Judaism ‘sons of the devil’ (John 8:44), said that anyone who denies Him rejects Moses (John 5:46-47), and their Synagogue worships the devil (Revelation 2:9, 3:9).
Then His hand-chosen Apostles taught that God no longer sees people as Jews or Gentiles (Galatians 3:28, Colossians 3:11), that believers in Jesus are children of Abraham (Galatians 3:7), that unbelieving Jews are not (Romans 9:6-8), and referred to the Church as the circumcised (Philippians 3:3), as His chosen nation (1 Peter 2:9), and as the ‘Israel of God’ (Galatians 6:16).
The Book was written by the Holy Ghost (2 Peter 1:21), with multiple books written by non-Jewish hands (Luke/Acts), for the benefit of all men (2 Timothy 3:16-17). And the BIG REVEAL of the whole Book is that Jesus came to save the goyim (Ephesians 3:6).
Stop trying to turn the Son of God into your tribal bush deity and some simp mascot for a desert war cult. He’s the King of Kings. Have some respect.
“Above all, good-heartedness and simplicity attract the grace of God; they are the preconditions for God to come and make His abode in us. But the good-hearted person must be aware of the schemings of the devil and of men, because he will be sorely tormented.” -St. Porphyrios

‘All of this somehow reminds me forcibly that—just as our Saviour could say of Nathaniel that “here is a true Israelite, there is no guile in him”—so too there is such a thing as a “true American”: an honest, forthright, normal person for whom Holy Orthodoxy is quite “natural”; and the harvest of these “true Americans” is only beginning. Doubtless the “Orthodox Americans” will be few in number, but it is precisely the best part of America which is waiting (without knowing it) to hear the glad tidings of Orthodoxy.’ —Blessed Seraphim Rose

Found this today at a local coin show with my priest — a 6th-century Byzantine half-follis minted by Emperor St. Justinian.
“Be kind to one another, for all are fighting a hard battle.”
A gift from the St. Herman Monastery in Platina. I noticed it on the wall in their kitchen and mentioned to one of the monks how much I liked that quote. A couple hours later he handed it me.

“Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle.”
☦️2 Thessalonians 2:15
"Time does not weaken the unwritten traditions. Nor does length of years diminish their authority. For they were not things written down casually or left to human invention. Rather, they are the practices the Apostles themselves delivered to the Church. Practices confirmed by long-standing usage and the shared consensus of those who came before us. To oppose such traditions, under the pretense of honoring Scripture alone; is to undermine the very faith handed down to us!”
“Of the doctrines preserved in the Church, some come to us in writing, and others come from the Tradition of the apostles, mystically preserved. Both of these have the same authority.”

Paradise means "walled garden" and is the same word in Greek in the Septuagent used to name the garden of Eden. Look at an icon of the final judgement, on the right side of Christ, you will see that the saints are coming to the gates of Paradise where the cherub is on the door, and inside is the "bosom of Abraham", the Virgin and the good thief whom Christ promised would be with him in paradise, that is with him in the Garden.
Replying to @PageauJonathan @DavidAn1611
Mr. Pageau, Roman Catholic here. Can you elaborate or provide further reading on paradise ≠ heaven? I assume this is regarding the good thief on the cross and you've made me very curious. Thank you on advance, I love your work
