A belated post from me. Spent Saturday @AVRBitton celebrating 200 years of the railway. Pictured here is the fab restored Frys Sentinel loco - used exclusively at the Frys factory in Keynsham. Even met the man who tracked it down. Fab day. #bristol #frys #avonvalleyrailway

That's an expensive book! This copy of Hobbit has sold for £43,000 at auction in Bath💰 The rare first edition was found during a routine house clearance in Bristol - it is one of only 1,500 copies initially printed in September 1937.

Botanist Hubert Priestley was at most a couple of degrees of separation from JRR Tolkien. So it isn’t surprising that Priestley got an early copy of “The Hobbit.” More surprising: the rare first edition just turned up in the home of a Priestley relative. oxfordmail.co.uk/news/253341…

Having Bill Murray come to our city was a real treat tonight @Bristol_Beacon As he walked to the microphone and spoke, there was an audible squeal from many of the audience. Bill Murray was in the building! Fun evening of music, verse and Bill-Murray-ness

80 Years since VE Day - all of my grandparents did their bit during the war, and I was honoured to hear their stories firsthand as a child. Re-telling those stories and hearing new ones from others has been a privilege today.

Visited The Beatles Museum today - amazing place. I love this: Pete Best's school book with a page of autograph practising! He was, of course, fired just before they made the big time and replaced with Ringo. But this page represents the ultimate rock and roll dream!
