Auctions are very dynamic, no doubt. But drafters will anchor to something. Maybe it's their own external cost values but more often than not it will be the average value that the fantasy community has drafted that guy for, which is typically displayed prominently in the draft. Obviously each league will vary to some degree and the value can be very different across platforms.

Respectfully, sir, I disagree with your argument. AAV is the average he is going for. This is not my number, it's computed average from the platform. I agree $7 is too low and I'm simply calling out this fact.
If you draft on Sleeper then you will get a more sensible AAV for Evans. But, platform matters.

It depends on where you draft. He's actually not that cheap on Sleeper, but his AAV is only $7 on Yahoo. I think it's worth it to take the risk on him in a wide receiver spot if you can save that much budget and then put it elsewhere. For example, when I optimize the lineup around Mike Evans, the highest projecting build has both Bijan and Gibbs on Yahoo!!

Dalton Kincaid is particularly interesting to me. He has first-round pedigree, arguably the best quarterback in the league, he has flashed, and he's entering his prime. If you're an auction drafter like me, then you can get him for $1. That opens up a lot of interesting possibilities if you take that risk. For example, I could build this ridiculously stacked lineup on Yahoo at current AAVs when I take the Kincaid savings:

If Jayden Reed is startable, then that opens up some interesting lineup possibilities in auction. For example, you would be able to get JSN, Amon-Ra, and Chase Brown on the same roster as Jayden Reed in this build:
