I didn’t know him well. 1st met him when Rohan Chandran visited Pune in ’20, then kept bumping into him at book launches, PYC — shared interests! I remember him hosting @cricinfo founders’ podcast. Having witnessed Cricinfo’s genesis, it was nostalgic. Travel well, @Gautaamm.

There was a time, on RSC (rec.sport.cricket) group, when answer to any cricket related quiz question used to be Stewart Law, given sarcastically, of course. In this case, it's the right answer #rec_sport_cricket #90s #thosewhoknow
He played 54 ODIs, but just the one Test... 🔗 bit.ly/DailyCricQuiz

I watched (most likely) the first cricket match telecast live in India. It was between England and India at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in 1974. Only the last session on 5th day was telecast live. I Remember Derek Underwood bowling in the mandatory overs. 1/2
What year did you start watching cricket? Be honest.

Incidentally, it was the last test at Brabourne Stadium for a while. The next test in Mumbai was at newly built Wankhede Stadium in 1975, against WI team lead by Clive Lloyd. 2/2

Empty seats on Center Court at #Wimbledon2025 on the first day for #frenchopen2025 winner? What an exciting match it is developing into!! One set all and two service breaks to start the third set. @carlosalcaraz, @fabiofogna

Nah!! Who cares about England tour? IPL is more important to B**I #sarcasm_mode_on
Now it's time to pick the Indian team for the England Test series. Players need to prepare themselves technically, mentally and physically for the red ball series in England. IPL is an entertainment. Red ball Test series is a serious business.

Informative two and half hours spent with @GodboleSandeep and other group members. 👌👌👏👏
#Pune Shaniwar Wada Walk today morning with a wonderful group of people. The experience is about visualising the period, events, disasters and triumphs not seen by the naked eye. It is about a 90 year period over which this very landmark dominated the politics of Hindustan 1/4

Pained by the passing away of Rohini Godbole Ji. She was a pioneering scientist and innovator, who also was a strong votary of more women in the world of science. Her academic efforts will continue to guide the coming generations. Condolences to her family and admirers. Om Shanti.

I had the pleasure of hosting her in San Francisco Bay Area on one of her visits, probably to SLAC, during my stay in USA. A great loss to the scientific community and to humanity 🙏🙏
Today I am writing an obituary. For the brilliant and award winning #physicist Prof. Rohini Godbole. She was an award winning scientist, a leading voice for equality for women in science, and also my favourite aunt. Rohini Mavshi or RoMa.Greater minds than me have talked about how great her work was. But then, this is just a boy talking about his memories of his favourite aunt. Everyone sees the awards, the accolades. But, I see a kind soul, a will made of steel and a keen mind as focused as a laser. I remember RoMa who used to get me extra chocolates from her trips abroad, who used to remember to save her conference badges so that we kids could pin them up on wall. I remember someone who was genuinely happy to realise that I had figured out why objects fall at the same rate when I was 16.I remember the indulgent smile you had when I asked absolutely stupid questions to your colleagues. I remember an amazing woman who despite suffering a lot in personal life always grit her teeth and moved on. Someone who insisted on being sincere in one's effort and mischievous enough to indulge in an 8 yr old's request to throw water balloons off the balcony, (all in the interest of science). I remember a voice of sage like wisdom telling me to not worry about where I did my PhD from. I remember a reassuring pat on the back and the words 'I am proud of you but not because of your excellence but because of your efforts'. And then I remember a fiery will encased in a body slowly losing ground to cancer. You will be missed. Always. The world is poorer today, and will never be the same.

Great initiative. I want to help. Whom should I contact? @MulaMutha
Participated in a visit to #Pune’s historic Shaniwar wada by Member of Parliament @Medha_kulkarni to assess the short and long term work needed to restore the wada, its old paintings, inner structures ~ with reps of @ASIGoI @PMCPune @KALAMDANIKIRAN Architects, experts in History Pandurang Balkavade, Mandar Lavate, Mohan Shete @AjaatShatrruu as well as Pushkarji Peshwa over nearly an hour and a half this morning. Many positive and constructive suggestions and ideas came forth that will now be formulated and taken up at the central level.

Saw so many visuals of South African cricketers being sad or being consoled by their loved ones. We never see these visuals when India loses... I guess the Indian media quickly gets into criticizing mode when that happens #T20WorldCup2024 #indiaWorldChampians
