PART 5 of 6
#0 looked bellow them..
Trees.
Left.
Trees.
Right.
More trees.
The DooDoll looked up at him.
“Okay.”
#0 scratched his head.
“Now we’re lost.”
The DooDoll nodded.
Suddenly, the doll stood and pointed excitedly toward the distant ship.
“I see it.”
It kept pointing.
“I know.”
Still pointing.
#0 pushed its arm down.
“That’s not the problem.”
The DooDoll stared at him.
#0 stared back.
Then his eyes slowly drifted toward the ship.
Then back to the DooDoll.
PART 4 of 6
The 2 searched for hours.
They found berries, feathers, and a hole #0 spent far too long yelling into.
A fly buzzed past.
The DooDoll froze, then quickly hid behind #0.
#0 stared at it.
“…Really?”
Eventually, the trees thinned.
#0 stopped.
“…Huh.”
The DooDoll looked up at him.
They stepped from the forest.
A vast stretch of pine trees filled the valley below. Far in the distance rested the crashed Lyl ship.
For once, #0 was quiet.
The DooDoll sat at the cliff’s edge.
#0 sat beside it.
It leaned against him.
#0 soon started to realize just how far away the crashed ship really was.

PART 3 of 6
The DooDoll suddenly flew backward.
A faint purple shimmer surrounded it as it narrowly missed a tree and landed softly in some leaves.
#0 picked it up.
Not a scratch.
“You’re really good at this.”
The bush growled.
#0 tucked the DooDoll under his arm and quickly walked away.
“We’re not lost.”
Another growl.
“We’re searching faster.”
By midday, #0 had developed a theory.
DooDolls were indestructible.
At a stream, he tested it by tossing the DooDoll across.
It fell short.
A tiny purple flicker stirred beneath its mask. The water swelled just enough to push it onto the opposite bank.
#0 nodded.
“Definitely indestructible.”

PART 2 of 6
They continued.
A broken branch meant someone was close. A pile of rocks meant they were even closer. A mushroom meant they were practically on top of them.
The DooDoll believed all of this too.
They reached a fallen tree. #0 climbed over easily. The DooDoll scrambled halfway up, rolled backward, and disappeared down a steep hill.
It bounced off a rock.
Then another.
Then vanished into a bush.
#0 climbed down and found it sitting upright, leaves resting on its head.
“Huh.”
Something suddenly began to rustle nearby.
#0 pointed.
“Found one.”
The DooDoll crept toward the bush.
Something large moved inside..

PART 1 of 6
The forest felt like it was waiting for something to happen.
Lyl #0 assumed it was waiting for him.
“Good. Means we’re on time.”
The DooDoll stared up at him.
Quite a few Lyls are still missing, and #0 decided he was uniquely qualified to find them.
“We go that way.”
The DooDoll immediately walked the other way.
“No.”
#0 scooped it up, turned it around, and set it down.
After some time, #0 found footprints.
“Fresh. Definitely one of the missing Lyls.”
They followed the footprints through the forest until the trail returned to where they started.
#0 stared at the footprints.
Then at his own feet.
“We’re not lost.”
The DooDoll looked up at him.

1/2 One afternoon, a battered knight placed a DooDoll into the hands of Lyl #217, Judgment.
“We found it wandering near the crash site,” the knight explained. “The thing keeps staring at people.”
The DooDoll immediately stared at him.
Judgment looked down at it.
The DooDoll continued staring.
“Right,” said Judgment. “We should probably ask #98 what to do with it.”
“I’ve been watching the other DooDolls,” #98 explained after examining it. “Some are evolving.”
He described dolls that had changed after being exposed to extreme actions. Demon Lyls channeling magic through them. #0 using it as a dodgeball. Endless chaos.
“The cursed and Omen-marked dolls didn’t change by accident,” #98 said. “They adapted to what they experienced.”
“So we need to do something similar?” Judgment asked.
#98 nodded.
“But pure to counteract the others.”
The pair immedietly got to work.

2/2 Judgment carried the DooDoll on patrols.
It sat beside healers treating wounded Lyls.
It even endured several long conversations with Lyl #98 about cosmic laws.
At first, nothing happened.
Then the changes began.
Its fabric brightened.
Tiny blue threads appeared along its seams.
Its one button eye appeared more friendly.
“It’s evolving,” Judgment whispered.
“No,” said #98.
“It’s being blessed.”
And throughout the settlement, a handful of ordinary DooDolls began changing too.
