For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.

Idolising church leaders is nothing new. In Lystra, the people there tried to worship Paul and Barnabas as gods, and they refused it by tearing their clothes.
The lesson is that it’s the leader's duty to nip that madness in the bud and keep the focus on God.

I’m still looking for a logical reason why anyone wants Lagos life to fail.
What is this obsession with humbling the creator, ehn?
Nna ehn, jealousy is not a good look. Stay mad though✋

Still, I’d like to see more people of African descent tackle economics and economic development topics. There are so few of us writing, publishing, analyzing, etc.
and it’s not easy

One of Nigeria’s greatest tragedies is not just that millions live in poverty, but that many have been conditioned to defend the very system that keeps them poor.

Nigerians have been battling rising fuel prices ever since that time. That’s 8 months ago.
During this time, there has been ZERO initiative to cushion the hike in fuel prices but now thats it’s less than 100 days to a new election cycle, BAT suddenly introduced a 50 naira discount on fuel price.
PVC collection starts tomorrow, please get your PVC & be ready.

Three things.
The tens of billions of Naira this 30-day discount that is definitely not subsidy will cost, was it budgeted for?
Secondly, I hope we all know this temporary discount that is absolutely not subsidy is being introduced to try to dissuade Nigerians from voting for candidates who want to reintroduce a permanent subsidy?
Finally to @inecnigeria, can you see why campaign limits are ridiculous when running against an incumbent? Because this is clearly campaign spending being ‘sponsored’ by the federal government.
But lovely gamesmanship by the president sha. How e talk am again? “All is fair in politics.”
BREAKING: The Federal Government Announces a 30-Day Discount on Petrol Through NNPC stations
“We are offering a discount on petrol dispensed by NNPC limited for the next 30 days in the first instance with priority for public transporters nationwide. So, it’s not a subsidy, government is just saying we sell to you at cost.”

The problem from “Farm to fork” is pesticides, chemicals and ripening agents. NAFDAC is squarely responsible for regulating these.
NAFDAC’s responsibility does not end at working with the Ministry of Agriculture to train farmers. Section 5 (b) of the NAFDAC Act makes it responsible “for the effective control of the QUALITY of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, bottled water and chemicals and their raw materials as well as their production processes in factories and other establishments.”
A trip to Abuja’s Bread Market got me thinking about a bigger question: How do we move women-owned businesses to scale?
Finance matters, but access to capital alone isn’t enough.
I wrote about women, markets, and building an ecosystem where their businesses can truly grow. 👇🏾

Sadly, this is just the tip of the iceberg, when BAT eventually removes the electricity subsidy if he wins re-election in 2027 and everyone is now paying “cost reflective pricing” for electricity, people will witness actual eroding of their livelihoods.
Honestly, for your own sake, take 2027 elections serious.

I bought fuel yesterday in Toronto, Canada, at $1.7999 CAD per litre, and it cost about $98.95 CAD to fill up my tank. This should ideally last me about a week or more.
Now, the minimum wage in Canada is $17.95 CAD per hour, which means someone who works an average of 8 hours a day will earn $143.60 CAD before tax. A day's salary is enough to fuel his or her car for 2–3 weeks. This means that even one of the lowest earners in Canada can afford to own and drive a car daily without the cost of fuel becoming an overwhelming burden. Public education for children is also free and of high quality.
In Nigeria, fuel is about ₦1,300 per litre. It would cost about ₦88,000 to fill up a similar tank. The minimum wage in Nigeria is ₦70,000 per month. This means that an entire month's minimum wage cannot even fill the tank once.
A minimum-wage earner in Nigeria cannot realistically afford to own, fuel, and maintain a car. The same person still has to afford food, rent, children's education, healthcare, electricity, transportation, and other basic necessities. The list goes on.
In fact, even a bank manager in Nigeria earning ₦1 million monthly could still struggle to maintain a decent standard of living after covering these basic expenses.
This is one reason poverty is so widespread in Nigeria. The cost of basic living is simply too high relative to what the average person earns.
You don't just have an income problem in Nigeria. You have an affordability problem.
For millions of Nigerians, simply living a decent life has become too expensive and increasingly impossible.
