10 years ago today a commercial I edited aired on national television for ESPN. I remember seeing it for the first time while I was sitting in a bar and even though I was feeling proud, it was a big realization in my career that I needed to make a change. I was working with big clients like Nat Geo, ESPN and mainly HBO, places I’ve dreamed about working with, but I was severely underpaid and it felt like the curtain was pulled back on my dream. I felt stuck and at that time the only way you could make a name for yourself and rise as an editor was to either assist someone and/or just wait your turn working the same position at the same place for years. I had too much ambition and decided to change my path and I’m so glad that I did. So if you feel stuck just know there’s room for us all to succeed and there’s better opportunities out there that will treat you right and believe in your growth. Trust that, always make sure to look back and be grateful where you are now ✌️
