1 Sol vs. 20 Billion Sols. 🤯 HLX-1 proves that cosmic scale is truly unfathomable.

Imagine looking up at the Martian sky and seeing two moons racing in completely different directions. Phobos moves so fast it crosses the sky three times a day. 🌌

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

“You can see the surface of the Moon…we just went sci-fi.” On flight day seven, images from our @NASAArtemis II crew amazed, turning science fiction to reality. From the lunar far side to a solar eclipse from the Moon, the views are EVERYTHING. No pressure to pick a favorite.

That's us! 🌍 The Artemis II crew captured beautiful, high-resolution images of our home planet during their journey to the Moon. As @Astro_Christina put it: "You guys look great."

This new video shows changes in Kepler's Supernova Remnant using data from @NASA's Chandra captured over more than two and a half decades. Located about 17,000 light-years from Earth, parts of the remnant are still traveling at ~13.8 million mph. s.si.edu/kepler26 #AAS247

From Mars, Phobos appears to be one-third the size of Earth's Moon and blocks the Sun in tiny eclipses. Deimos? A bright star. Imagine the views! 👽

Gamma-ray bursts, the most powerful class of cosmic explosions, usually last under a minute. But astronomers spotted one in July that continued for days. Learn how @NASA telescopes and other facilities are helping us narrow down the possible causes: go.nasa.gov/49Yr5hL

Here's Hubble's latest view of Comet 3/I ATLAS! Taken on Nov. 30, this image shows the comet when it was ~178 million miles (286 million km) from Earth. Hubble tracked the comet as it moved across the sky, so background stars appear as streaks of light: go.nasa.gov/3MlLfbB

Hubble eXtreme Deep Field 直径数十万光年の銀河たちが美しい砂粒のように見える。気が遠くなる超遠方に思いを馳せる。 向こう側に知性を宿す惑星があるなら 同じように、こちら側の銀河を見て ロマンを抱いているかもしれない。
A tiny sky patch holds 5,500+ galaxies - some from just 450 million years after the Big Bang!  The eXtreme Deep Field (XDF) was created by combining 10 years of NASA Hubble Space Telescope images. 🔭🕰️
