BREAKING: SIMPLY VIEWING AN ONLINE AD ON A LEGITIMATE WEBSITE CAN INFECT YOUR DEVICE WITH SPYWARE, NO CLICKS OR DOWNLOADS REQUIRED Citizen Lab researchers have uncovered what they describe as the first publicly documented case of mercenary spyware delivered through targeted online advertisements without any user interaction. The operation, dubbed “AdFection,” exploited the online advertising ecosystem to identify victims using IP addresses, browser cookies, and mobile advertising IDs. Once a targeted ad loaded, malicious code could initiate an infection without the victim ever knowing. Researchers identified at least 45 devices targeted at Al Jazeera during 2024 and 2025, linking the operation to Israeli advertising firm Discover-Tech and spyware vendor Candiru. An analysis of roughly 4 billion advertising bidding records found Discover-Tech ads appearing across nearly 200,000 websites and apps worldwide, although exposure did not necessarily mean infection. Discover-Tech had operated through major advertising networks, including Google, before being removed following the investigation.
Thread 🧵 1/ NEW REPORT: Billions of advertising auctions determine in real time which ads we see on websites and in apps every day. Our latest research shows how the same data fueling this advertising ecosystem is being used to profile millions of users and silently infect targets with zero-click mercenary spyware, a novel attack technique we call "Adfection.” Read the report: citizenlab.ca/research/how-d…

String theory is what happens when an intelligent system is starved of sensory input and starts hallucinating. Intelligence needs grounding. For this reason, intelligence is practically never the bottleneck to solving impactful problems. The bottleneck is iterated contact with reality.

how I'm avoiding doomer mindset: - focus on things I think are cool, not what other people say I should care about - lean into social hobbies; you'd be surprised how many free events are hosted on the reg in so many different spaces! - lean into festivities (makes you feel like a kid again) - practice discipline every day :) little steps compound in your mindset

‼️ The FBI raided over 40 suspected North Korean "laptop farms" in Texas and seized ~187 devices. The DOJ also charged 14 people over a scheme who put DPRK IT workers inside more than 70 US companies. Each laptop may represent a company that hired a North Korean.

PSA the ledger incident isn't limited to Asia This is a device purchased in store from an official reseller in Europe (a legitimate device doesn't have any of these cables as can be seen in picture 2) This even seems to be an old version of the 'spy implant' even though the device was purchased a couple of weeks ago. The newer versions usually hide the implant by the screen so it's easier to miss What's interesting is that this compromised ledger never transfered funds to an exploiter. Either the device didn't work or they were waiting for a more widespread usage of the comprised devices? If you own a ledger that didn't directly come from the ledger online store make sure to not just rely on the software genuinely check by ledger but to actually open up the ledger yourself to make sure its original, again there are reported cases in Asia, south America and now Europe as well. @MagicalTux made some useful videos on how to open the ledger and what to look for.

Elon Musk cautions that the time left is short: You have 3 years at most to keep earning from selling your work. After that, AI takes over most tasks, and paying people for their time stops making sense. The 200-year-old model, "I give you your salary in exchange for your time", will soon be over. This will set off the largest wealth transfer in modern history. People already making the shift get it. People waiting for the headlines will show up too late. In the end, what you own counts for more than how much you work. The smartest asset to build right now ranks above Bitcoin and land: an income stream powered by AI that compounds while you sleep. Interested in AI? Follow @AiEvolutio58513 and never fall behind. I track ChatGPT, Claude, and every tool quietly changing how we work and create, then hand you the tested signals.

Build your printers. Don't buy them.
Every single file you tell your bambu printer to spit out sends that file to china so they can steal your IP with the actual schematics you created yourself.
