A bronze Korean shamanic magic mirror from the Joseon dynasty (1392–1897) featuring the Big Dipper, Sun, and Moon. They were believed to facilitate communication between humans and deities/spirits and thus were used for shamanic divination/scrying. They also served as a “vehicle” containing the spirit of the shaman who used it; a senior shaman ("spiritual mother") could select one of her disciples ("spiritual daughters") and pass the mirror to her to transmit the shaman's ritual authority and ancestral spiritual lineage.
