According to AfDB, raw bauxite sells for US$65 per tonne, while aluminium commands US$2,335 per tonne. That’s roughly 36 times the price per tonne. Africa must capture more of the value created after its minerals leave the ground. That means investing in local processing, reliable energy and industrial capacity, so our mineral wealth generates more jobs, income and opportunity at home. #WBMeetings #IMFMeeyings @DeproseM @OpenSociety @OpenSocietyAfr @devex
