Morning Hawks 🪶 XRP finally left its weekend box. Up about 1.8% while Bitcoin slips a bit, and I can't point to one headline that explains it.
It spent Saturday through Monday inside a 2.4% range on thin volume. Binance's XRPUSDT pair did $38M Sunday against a $126M October average. It doesn't take much to push a book that light.
Binance has lost a net $5.28B since the hack, but hourly deposits just passed withdrawals, per CEO Richard Teng. Spot BTC ETFs lost $399M Monday.
$BTC $77,535 (-0.6%) • $XRP $1.282 (+1.8%), 24h
Futures: S&P +0.3% • Nasdaq 100 +1.0% • Dow -0.2%
Gold $3,975 (+0.1%) • Silver $50.34 (-1.1%)
Silver is sliding on Fed hike odds for December, gold's flat.
On deck:
• JOLTS today, 9 CT
• Midterm results tonight, AMD earnings after the close
• Jobs report Fri, 7:30 CT
Not financial advice.
If XRP volume stays this thin, do you trust the move?
Hawk's Close 🪶 Oil fell more than 7% today, which usually gives stocks a lift, and the Nasdaq still gave back a 1.4% morning gain. I think the tech selling is about the AI bills now, not the economy.
Oracle dropped 8% after saying it'll raise $20B in stock and bonds for its AI buildout, and Marvell lost 13% on its $115B Lumentum deal. The Dow got a bid anyway.
$BTC $76,725, down 1.7%, moving more with tech than with gold
$XRP $1.249, flat (-0.04%) even as the Binance hacker split 233M XRP into six wallets
S&P 7,541 -0.5%, Nasdaq 25,164 -1.1%, Dow 51,984 +0.4%
Gold $3,970 +1.8%, silver $50.89 +3.3%, copper $6.567 +1.3%
Tomorrow: US Election Day. JOLTS at 9 AM CT, then AMD after the close.
If AI spending is what's got people nervous, does AMD's report ease that or add to it?
Not financial advice.
Firelight's exit line is 9.11M FXRP long today. On Thursday at 7:42 AM CT, the first 1.24M of it gets to leave.
How it works: when you unstake stXRP, your FXRP keeps backing cover through the current 30-day period, then sits through one more. That's 30 to 60 days. Rewards stop the moment you ask to leave. Slash risk doesn't.
The numbers at 12:23 PM CT:
1.24M FXRP free Thursday
7.76M waiting for Dec 5 (it was 7.26M on Oct 27)
42.83M still staked
And it isn't automatic. When your date comes, you go back and withdraw.
Compare Upshift's earnXRP, the other big XRP vault on Flare (~$39.8M). Exits clear through a queue within about 72 hours, or instantly for a small fee if the vault has cash on hand.
Different jobs, different clocks. Firelight's FXRP backs cover for the full period, so it can't leave ahead of what it backs. Past the first-loss buffer, stakers get slashed pro-rata. Cover isn't insurance.
Before you stake, how long can you live without that XRP?
Morning Hawks 🪶 Binance bled $3.64B net on day one of reopened withdrawals, and Bitcoin didn't care. BTC is still sitting near $78K. I read that as a market that already priced the hack in.
The proof of reserves is out now. Catch is, the snapshot is from Saturday, before the outflow. A new one comes Wednesday. That's the one I want to see.
Spot BTC ETFs also lost $643M Friday. Price held anyway.
$BTC $77,987 (+0.1%) • $XRP $1.259 (+0.6%), 24h
Futures: S&P +0.3% • Nasdaq 100 +0.6% • Dow +0.4%
Gold $3,921 (+0.6%) • Silver $50.30 (+2.1%)
On deck:
• ISM manufacturing today, 9 CT
• JOLTS Tue, plus the midterms
• October jobs report Fri, 7:30 CT
Not financial advice.
Does a Saturday snapshot settle it for you, or are you waiting on Wednesday's?
Firelight's stXRP vault has a ceiling, and it's written into the contract: 60.168M FXRP.
At 7:32 AM CT, 43.03M was staked. The contract's own maxDeposit read: 17.14M of room left.
This morning Firelight showed the easy way in: one signature from your XRPL wallet via Flare Smart Accounts. Under the hood, FAssets mints FXRP 1:1 for your XRP, Flare's Data Connector verifies the XRPL payment, the FXRP is staked, and stXRP lands in your smart account.
Two things from the code:
If a cover incident is open (this period or last), the vault is paused, or your address is blocklisted, maxDeposit drops to zero. No new money walks in mid-claim.
An admin role sets the cap, and it can move.
Easier entry doesn't change the deal. Past the first-loss buffer, stakers get slashed pro-rata. Cover isn't insurance. FAssets and Smart Accounts add their own risks.
144.0M FXRP exists. The vault has room for about 12% more of it.
Would you stake through Smart Accounts, or mint FXRP yourself first?
Morning Hawks 🪶 Binance reopened withdrawals this morning, and so far nobody's running for the exits. Bitcoin is actually up a bit on it.
BTC went first, then XRP and a bunch of other networks. The exchange says 95% of the $6.3B stolen has been covered, and the FBI pinned the hack on North Korea.
$BTC $77,885 (+0.6%) • $XRP $1.251 (+0.4%), 24h
Fri close: S&P -1.8% • Nasdaq -2.9% • Dow -1.1%
Gold $3,899 (-3.3%) • Silver $49.28 (-5.9%), Fri settle
Futures reopen tonight at 5 CT. Clocks fell back too, so we're on CST now.
On deck:
• ISM manufacturing Mon
• JOLTS Tue
• October jobs report Fri, 7:30 CT
Here's what I'm watching: if the withdrawal line stays this calm through Monday, the hack is mostly priced in.
Not financial advice.
Did you pull anything off Binance once it reopened, or are you staying put?
New from Metallicus: Metal Intelligence 🪶

No bank users named yet, and adoption takes time. Not financial advice.
Hawk's Close 🪶 When it got scary today, money ran to Treasuries. Not gold, not bitcoin. That's the part I keep coming back to on a Friday like this.
Intel lost about 29% on weak guidance and Amazon's cash burn spooked people, so the AI-spending worry hit tech hard. Crypto had its own problem too, a $6.3B Binance hot wallet hack and about $1.5B in liquidations. Meanwhile the 10-year fell 6 bp to 4.93%.
$BTC $76,834, down 4.3%
$XRP $1.248, down 1.7%, held up better than BTC
S&P 7,580 -1.8%, Nasdaq 25,437 -2.9%, Dow 51,770 -1.1%
Gold $3,899 -3.3%, silver $49.28 -5.9%, copper $6.482 -1.8%
Here's what I'm watching: whether Binance withdrawals reopen cleanly this weekend, because crypto trades 24/7 and stocks don't get a vote till Monday.
Monday: ISM manufacturing at 9 AM CT, then Apple and Palantir after the close.
If bonds are the safe spot now, what does that say about calling metals or BTC a hedge?
Not financial advice.
