California, home to cultures from every corner of the world, is ready to celebrate the FIFA World Cup as well as the power of sport, community, and competition. Good luck to all the teams competing. Let the games begin! ⚽🌎

Thank you @LAFD @CAL_FIRE @CHPsouthern + all involved in response to #PalisadesFire #EatonFire. LA residents can find a list of resources + shelters here: news.caloes.ca.gov/shelters-…

I urge all LA residents to heed evacuation orders and follow the directions of emergency officials. Protect your family and loved ones, do what is advised. Firefighters and first responders are battling the dangerous and unpredictable #PalisadesFire #EatonFire, and California will be there to support evacuation and recovery efforts. Stay safe, remain vigilant, be prepared.

Today, we honor the remarkable life of President Jimmy Carter—a leader dedicated to peace, human rights, and public service. His legacy will forever inspire us.

Today it was a great honor to be elected by my colleagues to serve another term as Speaker of the California Assembly. Our task this session is urgent and clear: We must chart a new path forward and renew the California Dream by focusing on affordability. California will always be a place of opportunity. But that opportunity must shine equally for everyone in every corner of this great state. Over the next two years, we must do everything in our power — collectively — to renew the California Dream. Millions of Californians have put their faith in us. Let’s get it done. Let’s get to work.

.@potus has my deepest gratitude for his selfless leadership and the incredible progress he’s made for America. We are forever indebted to him for beating @realDonaldTrump in 2020, and for laying the foundation to beat him again in 2024. Thank you, Mr. President.

The Assembly fought hard to protect the public services that matter most to Californians, and we are delivering a budget that prioritizes affordability and long-term stability. 🧵

Under my leadership, the Assembly will continue to work to uplift all residents of our state. See my full statement on the Legislature v Weber opinion below:

The greatest. Rest in Peace, Willie Mays.

Residents have spoken loud and clear: They want to feel safe. We are saying enough is enough on organized retail theft. Now that the Assembly has taken action, I expect the Senate to move quickly and send these bills to the Governor for signature.

My Assembly colleagues, Budget Chair @AsmJesseGabriel and I will continue to fight to protect core programs for California’s most vulnerable residents and essential classroom funding. Here is our joint statement in response to the Governor’s “May Revision” budget proposal:

It was a pleasure to meet with Consul General of Mexico Tonatiuh González to discuss opportunities to deepen collaboration on trade, climate change, and more!
