People are understandably worried, so we’ve put the main precautions into plain English. If you haven’t set up the device, leave it unused. Ledger’s advice is to hold off on setup while the investigation continues. Contact official support for guidance. If you’ve already set it up, take the warning seriously. Ledger recommends considering moving your assets to a new Ledger device with a NEW recovery phrase. Avoid putting more funds into the potentially affected wallet. “It passed the genuine check” doesn’t settle this. Ledger explains that the check verifies the Secure Element. A device can still contain an unauthorized hardware implant while that original chip remains intact. Don’t let a passed check override the warning for affected buyers. (ledger.com) Replacing the device alone isn’t enough. If you restore the same recovery phrase onto another device, you’re accessing the same wallet. Anyone who already has that phrase could still access your funds. The destination needs a fresh recovery phrase generated on a trusted replacement device. Verify the receiving address on that trusted device before transferring. Keep your existing backup safe until the move is complete. (ledger.com) Be careful who offers to “help.” Never send anyone your 24 words or type them into a website, app, computer or phone. That includes anyone claiming to be support. If funds have already disappeared, don’t blindly send more crypto into the old wallet for fees. Automated theft tools may take that too. Get verified help. (ledger.com, ledger.com) Go directly to official support. Type support.ledger.com into your browser yourself. Keep your receipt, packaging, order details and any relevant transaction hashes. If you’re unsure how to move your assets safely, ask official support before trying anything with your recovery phrase. This concerns the CryptoBilis incident described in Ledger’s update. It doesn’t mean every Ledger device is affected. Please share this with anyone who bought through that reseller. They may not have seen the warning yet.
