Use the ‘F’ word early and frequently - because famine is not an event but a process. We cannot let govts hide or stop information collection to stop declaration of famine - absent evidence does not mean that famine is absent #MSFSci

⚠️ 93% of #COVID19 vaccine doses have been administered in just 10 countries, including the UK, whilst less than 2% have been administered in Africa.
This is not equity.

Replying to @mehdirhasan
We need both immediate action & longer-term solutions.
We need the US to donate surplus doses to COVAX now, we need tech transfer for vaccine manufacturing scale-up AND for countries like the US to stop blocking this IP waiver at the WTO.
Historic times call for bold action!

You know how Delhi's Hospitals are surviving? They have to raise alarm for oxygen, get oxygen which lasts only till 3-4 hrs & again raise alarm. This cycle continues. Can you imagine the toll it takes on hospital staff & patients who have to keep begging for oxygen every 3-4 hrs?
My experience getting the vaccine in Delhi, Also pls help other people book appts who can’t access Cowin.Delhi govt & civil defence volunteers did a fabulous job managing.Unfortunately there aren’t enough right now, be patient I am sure more will open soon #COVIDVaccination

They UNDERESTIMATED COVID at every step:
It’s just a flu
Will stay in China
Mortality is too low
Hospitals are empty
Our immunity is strong
We’ve reached herd immunity
COVID exploded. Now they say:
It’s not our fault
Remember: The underestimators were WRONG at every step

Haven't had a day like yesterday - trying to get dad a bed/oxygen/tests, etc taught me so much about the situation that just volunteering/amplifying didn't
There are certain lessons and tricks to this tragedy.
Sharing a thread - in case it helps someone running around for help!
