“It is an honour and privilege for Rwanda to be chosen as a destination in the Formula One calendar. What brought us together is a shared conviction that Africa has the potential to elevate the quality of motorsports as a global and elite discipline. Integrating African markets with global sports franchises and competitions offers transformative opportunities. Yet, if we have to be honest with ourselves, this cross-border connection has existed for a long time, just not in Africa’s favour. The message for all of us is simple: sports is a great equalizer, but we have to be intentional about delivering this promise. Rwanda is happy and excited to be part of a journey that will change how Africa is perceived in the world of sports. We want to contribute, not just participate, and this new chapter in motorsports starts today" President Kagame | Formula 1 African Grand Prix Announcement

“Our responsibilities as leaders are well known. Ultimately, all of these responsibilities are about serving our country and our people. People face challenges, but solutions must also be found, starting with leaders, wherever they may be. The problems that can be resolved should be dealt with immediately and put behind us. For the more difficult ones, we should work together to find solutions." President Kagame | Swearing-in of New Members of Parliament

“The term “The Africa we want” has been repeated so much. Yes, there is Africa we want. Why can’t we have the Africa we want, since we have everything in place. Why don’t we do things so that we can actually admire each other. Among us there are people capable of doing good things. Why don’t we join them and do exactly that.” President Kagame | Africa Mindset Reset Forum 2026

As we wrap up an incredible week in Poland with the National Black Empowerment Council, led by Executive Director Darius Jones, we're grateful for the opportunity to host this inspiring delegation and strengthen the longstanding bond between the Black and Jewish communities. Throughout the week, we explored the history, places, and personal stories of Jewish life in Poland, creating space for meaningful conversations about why preserving memory and confronting antisemitism remain as important as ever. One of the week's highlights was our conversation with Rwanda's Ambassador to Poland @Ashyaka, which demonstrated how honest dialogue can build resilience, foster empathy, strengthen partnerships, and inspire meaningful action. A special thank you to the Taube Center @tjhtpl for their outstanding partnership in helping make this experience so meaningful and impactful.

Whenever two African countries choose partnership over distance, the future gets a little brighter. As someone privileged to have called both Rwanda and South Africa home, I do not stand on one side celebrating the other. I stand in the middle, cheering for both. I was in Kigali this week. Everyone welcomed last week’s announcement. Yet almost every conversation ended with the same question: “Why do we need to wait twelve months?” It wasn’t frustration. It was readiness. One person couldn’t wait to visit Johannesburg again. Another hoped their son might soon study in Cape Town. Others simply smiled and said, “It’s about time.” People are often ready before institutions are. I’ve watched this relationship grow for years. I’ve seen companies like MTN help build Rwanda’s economy. I’ve enjoyed Rwandan coffee in South Africa. I’ve met Rwandans shaped by South African universities, and South Africans inspired by Kigali. Those are the real foundations of partnership. Not communiqués. People. I often say: Solidarity opens doors. Business keeps them open. Now let’s walk through those doors. Governments should move at the speed of their people. Accelerate visa reform. Make it easier to trade. Support SMEs. Build digital payment systems that allow African businesses to trade seamlessly across borders. Bring entrepreneurs to trade missions, not just officials. Business shouldn’t wait. Invest. Partner. Build supply chains. Create jobs. Universities should deepen exchanges. Young Africans should remember that their market is no longer one country. It is a continent. Trade between Rwanda and South Africa is still modest. I don’t see that as weakness. I see opportunity. Thank you to the many diplomats who quietly helped rebuild this relationship, including my brother #MandisiMpahlwa and High Commissioner @ehategeka. Patient work creates lasting change. We are all trying to find our way home. Perhaps home is not a place. Perhaps home is the Africa we choose to build together. Finding each other. Building Africa together. Africa moves faster when Africans move together. 🌍🇷🇼🇿🇦 #Rwanda #SouthAfrica #Africa #AfCFTA #Trade #Investment #PanAfricanism @CyrilRamaphosa @UrugwiroVillage @DIRCO_ZA @RwandaMFA @MTNGroup @RwandaGov @Brand_SA

.@AmbMukantabana, Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps, together with her fellow African Ambassadors and the African Union, hosted a reception in Washington, D.C. celebrating #AfricaDay. As Africa marks 63 years of sovereignty and the US celebrates 250 years of independence, one truth holds: "The relationship between African nations and the United States stands at a moment of singular importance and opportunity." #AfricaDay2026

“Confronting historical responsibilities requires real courage, because it generates fierce opposition by those with a case to answer. You need a strong sense of humanity to see it through. President Macron, I want to commend you on both counts: courage and humanity. You acknowledged that France could have stopped the genocide, but did not. In response, I described your words as something more valuable than an apology: namely, the truth. This door was first opened by President Nicolas Sarkozy, and I wish to commend him today. The Genocide against the Tutsi was foreseeable, and in fact foreseen, and France was in a unique position to observe and to act. It took too long for France to come to terms with its role, causing additional pain. And on some points, we still have not found consensus. I fully understand the feelings of those survivors and advocates, who remain dissatisfied with the official record. But I believe that our common work has initiated a journey towards truth, which is irreversible. And France was not alone in falling short, far from it. Many other countries did so as well, but none has gone as far as France in setting the record straight and accepting its part in the tragedy.” President Kagame | Inauguration of Monument in Paris honouring the victims of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi.
