Right - I am ready to buy a football club. Just need funding. Who can help?
🚨 Gateshead FC is now in real danger of facing winding-up proceedings
⏳ I understand HMRC have set a deadline of Wednesday (Nov 4) for progress before formal demands will be made. That would give the club 7 days to clear outstanding PAYE & VAT
🇺🇸 Flacks Group (an American private investment group) are ready to proceed with a takeover but need Shoreline Limited (fronted by Viktor Anichebe and who previously attempted to buy the club) to sign a waiver over money they claim they are owed by former club shareholders
🤝 This would clear the way for Flacks to complete their takeover of Gateshead, with Shoreline then able to pursue those shareholders separately
⚽ I understand Shoreline are currently in talks with the IFR to purchase League One Bromley
💰 Gateshead's players have not been paid & the club currently owes £200k to creditors
👀 Flacks' plans for Gateshead sound exciting & ambitious, with high-profile staff ready to come in
Really nice to see so many Poppies on peoples shirts today. Makes a nice change from seeing symbols for other countries you normally do on the morning commute
Huge milestone for me today, as I hit £70k this month. Super proud of this as it slowly ticks away. 29% growth from last year, and if I grow the same £ amount, only 2.5 years away.
Think will hit $100k next year.
Patting myself on the back
I’m on track to hit £100k net worth in the next 3-5 years.
This sometimes feels slow when I scroll past £500k portfolios or the more bullshitty posts like '£1M by 28' or 'How I turned £10k into £500k in 2 years'. But I hate get-rich-quick crap.
I’m here for the slow grind. Respect to those wins, but we need some realism.
I’m proud of the medium-term goal to hit that in the first half of my 30s.Why my trajectory (and other slow burners) is actually impressive:
- Most people in late 20s/early 30s are nowhere near £100k without inheritance or family help.
- Building £100k from zero base, purely off salary + habits is fucking tough! It’s a slow burn with not a huge amount of positive reinforcement like the first £10k. You just have to keep going.
- Lifestyle creep is always a risk, but with proper planning and structure it can be avoided.
- This is sustainable, not volatile. I don’t need luck – but it will definitely help.
Slow and steady wins the race – and the best part is:
- This 3-5 year trajectory assumes all things remaining the same (salary, savings rate, mortgage equity/month, pension contributions etc).
- Assumes 0% return – this is only based on my monthly inputs.
- Doesn’t take into account random additional cash I get through structured oversaving for annual bills etc.
I’m a big believer in goals. I have my long-term goal (£1mm). But to hit that, I need to hit this medium-term goal. And to do that I need to hit my short-term goals (monthly frugality and intentions with habits).
How long did it take you to hit the £100k mark? Did you see the compounding growth as big as they say? How far away from it are you?

First line, "This is a budget for the working people"
Lets see if it is true, as mostly Labour has done budgets for people who do not work. Come on Healey, my hopes are low and somehow i think I will still be dissapointed
Protected the welfare state whilst balanging the budget
I wanted to visualise Britain's state spending ahead of the Budget, so I've vibe coded an app which presents it as a disk drive.
Take a look at the tradeoffs and see if you can make the budget fit:

It really is that simple.
Hey @grok, what’s the best way for someone to ensure inflation doesn’t make them poor?
Just messaged the Mrs that $SOFI if up 12% in pre market trading.
Never mentioned I am down 5% still
My partner looked glanced my notebook and asked, "Why is testing so stressful?"
No...Its stress testing...
Portfolio has had a bad week wow. 40% of my YTD Gains wiped out.
Guess what? Still up 6.2%. And I am losing to the market.
JUST KEEP BUYING! Index and chill
Does anyone know how to get hold of @TfL ? I got overcharges, bank fee doesnt match the charge on the app. Have called used their bots etc but impossible to get where you want to go here
Every time ONS Unemployment Figures are released, I get reminded how many people have zero grasp of economic metrics and definitions.
People love to complain but its so easy to do these distances for a cheaper rates. here I found a way to get to Newcastle from London for close to 1/4 of the price
Nah you just need to pick better stocks.
I was just telling my wife $ONON is up 31% in the last month!
I didn't mention I was still down 1% on my holding of it,
My boss just asked "When you were in class, did you like have your own corner something?"
Me: "Well, firstly I was heavily medicated."
Please do not self diagnosis neurodivergence.
You don't "have a little of that too!"
