🚨2017 Dearborn PD Open Carry Stunt and Standoff -- Ski Mask + Tactical Vest + loaded firearms. On Feb. 5, 2017, James Baker (24) and Brandon Vreeland (40) walked into the public lobby of Dearborn Police Headquarters in Michigan. Baker wore a ski mask, body armor, a holstered Glock 19, and a short-barreled rifle slung across his chest. Vreeland wore body armor and carried cameras. They said they were there to file a complaint after an earlier traffic stop and to test whether officers would honor Michigan’s open-carry law. Officers drew guns within seconds. Baker argued it was legal in a public lobby. He eventually complied. No shots were fired. Both were arrested. Police seized a loaded AP-14 with a 47-round magazine, a loaded Glock plus extra mags, body armor, a mask, and recording gear. They were charged with carrying a concealed weapon, brandishing, resisting/obstructing, and disturbing the peace. Both were convicted. 🔹Baker got 9 months in jail plus probation. 🔹Vreeland got 9 months to 5 years.
