🆘🆘 NOUGAT (ID 268160), 12 YO, MALE– IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an agency on 10/14/2026 – OWNER WENT INTO CARE. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 🆘🆘 UPDATE – UPDATE – I AM PLEASED TO ADVISE ALL THAT NOUGAT’S BONDED HOUSEMATE, MARZIPAN (ID 268161) WAS ADOPTED – NOW LET’S GET NOUGAT SAFE🆘🆘 ➡️TBD 11/7/26 ➡️ SENIOR ALERT ➡️ MEDICAL PRIORITY – NEEDS MORE CARE AND ATTENTION THAN THE SHELTER CAN PROVIDE –😱😱😱 ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 7th Chance on Emergency Placement List – ON BORROWED TIME – SHELTER AT CAPACITY- NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT/HELP NOUGAT - HIGHEST EU/SILENT KILL RISK –🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡23 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ NOUGAT IS ON THE EPL FOR MEDICAL REASONS - Nougat is diabetic with diabetic neuropathy. He has been started on treatment for his diabetes. Nougat will need daily maintenance with their medical condition and further follow up with outside vet care. Nougat has allowed all handling. This evaluation/diagnosis means that NOUGAT will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Twelve year old Nougat and ten year old Marzipan were brought to the Manhattan Care Center as their owner was taken into care. They are two gentle souls who must have been such wonderful companions. They are calm, well mannered, welcoming of staff and volunteers (Marzipan is a bit shyer than Nougat), leaning into pets and even purring. Both pets seem to have been well cared for. They have a good weight, a thick and shiny coat, are already spayed and neutered and know their way around people. Nougat, though was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and is being treated for it. Marzipan is apparently healthy. Both have as expected, senior teeth. Nougat and marzipan are great names for the two housemates as they are so sweet but Marzipan(made of almond paste) is usually white, so I wonder...Marzipan and Nougat would love to go home, may be it could be with you and together(if at all possible)....They are both waiting for their forever at the Manhattan Care Center. What my friends at ACC say about NOUGAT: I can go home today! My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing. I am a sweet, social, older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home! I am a cat that is in need of a lap! TOM-ATO (ID 252377), 2 YO, MALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 4/28/2026, with the surrender reason stated as animal behavior - aggressive towards people. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 🆘🆘 RETURNED TO NYCACC FROM TRIAL ADOPTION🆘🆘 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 11/7/26 ➡️ NEW HOPE PARTNER RESCUE ONLY ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 5TH Chance on Emergency Placement List – BEYOND URGENT - NO ROOM IN SHELTER – WILL NOT BE GIVEN MUCH MORE TIME – VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 192 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ DR. TOM-ATO IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS -While he does display social behavior, he is prone to overstimulation and displays challenging behavior during interactions and in a home environment. He is extremely intelligent and high energy, and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for hismind and body, the cat may react with rough play, potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I love to be loved, but on my own terms! 🆘🆘 FACEY (ID 260347), 3 YO, MALE– IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 9/24/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance - moving - no pets allowed. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 11/7/26 ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️ 🆘🆘 3RD Chance on Emergency Placement List – NO ROOM IN SHELTER – WILL NOT BE GIVEN MUCH MORE TIME – VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK– 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 43 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ FACEY IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 What my friends at ACC say about me: I lived with children in my previous home. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I am not one to sit still! I will flourish in a home with someone that will keep me mentally and physically active! I have potential behavior challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me. A volunteer writes: Facey is very smart and very playful. He is also mostly uninterested in the Care Center. The exception to this appears to be treats because they bring even the most wary Facey to the front of his condo. In his previous home, he was an active, talkative, bold, and independent guy who enjoyed spending time with his people, but took his time getting used to strangers. All of this is to say that fitting in hasn't come so easily to him. Snuggled up on top of his den, Facey turned to greet me and then stared at the ground.
