Harohalli Srinivasaiah Doreswamy was 23-years-old when he was jailed for organizing strikes against the British and his second visit to the prison was at the age of 57 when he took on Indira Gandhi.
I was 21 and knew nothing about his history when I asked him who he was.

Ludhaura, Sitapur. Manoj Gautam, 35, a Dalit man, beaten to death with lathi in broad daylight in front of his wife and little daughters. Family says there were casteist slurs and earlier filed a case under the SC/ST Act against the accused. The police call it an "old rivalry".
BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh has been a graveyard for Dalits. A Dalit youth Manoj is beaten to death by Casteist Criminals in broad daylight, his wife and girl childs are on the street begging for justice and they have been beaten up too. You know who stands with them? Only Chandra Sekhar Azad and Bhim Army. And Where are the self proclaimed PDA champions? Akhilesh Yadav's Party is nowhere to be seen!!
Where is delhi centric liberal media? Where are Left's youth activists and their party general secretaries? Where is Bhushan and Yadav? Where are the upper caste Liberals crusading for fair elections? Silent.
With this closeted Upper caste mindset , what fairness will you bring in electoral system? Your fairness means: ignore dalits, get another batch of savarnas to power.

At 10:30 pm last night, reports that @odisha_police detained Dr Randall Sequeira, doctor to Adivasi communities, and Laxman Naik, leader of affected villages opposing @Vedanta_Group’s mining in Niyamgiri and Sijimali. Their whereabouts are still unknown, no access to a lawyer.
NEW | Vedanta seems to be attempting to revive its stalled Niyamgiri bauxite mining project despite the Gram Sabhas’ rejection of mining in 2013, raising concerns that the Odisha government may be using the criminal justice system to weaken tribal resistance and clear the way for corporate interests. @Ayaskant_Das reports.

In a generation accustomed to instant gratification, we must remember that meaningful change is rarely immediate. When the political climate tests our patience and convictions, we must learn to stay the course. Real change takes time, persistence and the courage to keep going.

It's finally out. All you wanted to know about Buddhism's revolutionary potential and how it got de-radicalised over the centuries until Ambedkar revitalised it in 1956 – at Bengaluru, India
“Buddhism provides this ideology, this identity that’s separate from Hinduism.”
@cascadechild talks with @mondalsudipto about how Buddhism became politically significant in the context of caste and the struggle over the identity of the oppressed classes.
