Today in history: Today is the 9th of Av (Tisha B’Av) on the Hebrew calendar, which marks and commemorates the destruction of both the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem.
Many around the world read from the book of Lamentations today, which was written as an eyewitness account of the destruction. With this historic date in mind, we are honored to present the full length video recording of the recent world premiere of "Lamentations of Jeremiah" by Ryan Malone, sung by the Armstrong Choral Union.

🎹World Premiere: New Oratorio Inspired by October 7
Edmond composer Ryan Malone debuts Lamentations of Jeremiah — a powerful new oratorio setting the entire biblical book of Lamentations to music for the first time in modern history.
Inspired by the silence Malone experienced in Jerusalem right after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks, the work is scored for full orchestra, chorus, and soloists. It blends classical orchestration with Middle Eastern modes and is sung in both English and Hebrew.
Malone will discuss the work with Spotlight on the Arts on Classical @KUCOfm 90.1 FM this Thursday, April 16, in the 9 o’clock hour.
