Today, we would like to honor the bravery and sacrifice of our first responders, military, and those affected by the attacks.
David Charbonnet felt a deep sense of duty after the events of 9/11 and decided to enlist in the Navy, becoming a member of Seal Team 1 like his father. Unfortunately, his parachute malfunctioned about a hundred feet from the ground and he became paralyzed from the waist down.
After a lengthy recovery, David got back to kayaking in a different way, and is now hoping to qualify for the 2028 Paralympic Games.
You can hear more about him in a story that aired earlier this year on ABC News at bit.ly/CAFdavid
