Usually I can tell when @homedepot just glues a box shut and puts a return back out on the sale pile. Bought shelves last night, went to assemble them this morning, missing instructions, all the casters, a top post, maybe more. I stopped counting there.

Been having a lot of experience w/ various forms of support at many companies. So far the experience has been against AI forms (notable exception was with Logos). It’s so bad I’m almost to the point where I’ll hang up if I detect silicon on the other end of the line.

For those of you following my @tmobile quest, current status is spending two hours in chat with their customer disservice machine, being told (finally) that they’d cancel the two lines in question, and days later still seeing no evidence that anything at all has been done.

Interesting conundrum, @humana: with the proliferation of all the scam calls and ID theft calls, how can you get info from cold-calling customers without training them to give away their info to any competent fraudster? Of course I’m paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?

It’s been like pulling teeth to get @amazon / @chase to recognize that my daughter died. They steadfastly refused to deal with the estate rep, and have declined to file a claim against the estate, so we’ve given up on them.

Trying out @canonusa CameraConect software; it tells me limited access will allow it to add photos, so I grant it, and select the photo to transfer. “NO, gimme full access.” Give you full access, when you’ve already lied to me? Like that’s gonna happen.

Interestingly, @dominos appears to think the attached is a large ultimate pepperoni. Also interestingly, their delivery insurance requires they call a phone line that currently is out of order, and I can’t change that.

What‘s going on @dominos? Can’t order a pizza!

I don’t know if anyone on the planet could have a more useless chatbot on their customer service line than @we_energies . It just switched to Spanish in the middle of the conversation. Not that it mattered much; it wasn’t answering my question in English, anyway.

And another round battling the broken US healthcare system: @cigna has been billing both my wife and I for her dental coverage. For quite a while. The Whole system is badly designed and inefficiently run.

I swear @turbotax UI gets worse every year. Between the eleventy-seven pleas for me to switch to online, and the doomsday loop when trying to transfer data from last year’s return, I’m thinking it’ll be easier to get out my pen and file by hand this year!

Why do people use @1password? Installed it, it pops up a dialog box I can’t dismiss. Go to web site to figure it out, it says “I’m sticking a marketing tracker cookie on you, and you don’t get to stop me!”

I’ve been going through a monologue with cur8trend (can’t call it a dialogue, that would require they were actually reading the messages I sent). Been thinking I might write it up as a comedy piece if it continues in this vein.

At this point I’m not asking questions, and even telling them there’s no question to answer. And they reply as before. None of the replies are identical, but they’re all equally useless and demonstrate no one is listening.

I’m considering now just starting to copy/paste some irrelevant Douglas Adams or G B Shaw passages, maybe see if I can gin up a little more absurdity in this. I know, but in these bleak times you sometimes have to take the entertainment where you can get it.

Listening to my wife‘s blood pressure rising as she calls @humanahelp to complain she hasn’t received her ID card yet, and everything asks for her ID before it will talk to her.

Following my daughter’s death, I’ve been going through her socials to notify the people she would want notified, and I’ve discovered a couple of things. The biggest thing being she’s made some wonderful supportive friends that I didn’t know about, which I think is terrific.

This leads to another discovery, which I think is important to talk about. It’s really difficult for me to discover the people that should be notified. I understand the reason for the roadblocks; but there’s a need for a set of “emergency keys.”

Not everyone’s parental relationships are good, I know. But for those whose are, please, for the sake of fathers like me trying to do the right thing, keep something with all the important access credentials that can be used to properly “close up shop” after you depart.
