Asking for help is a choooore for me, bt getting better + finding that when someone close is floundering, their signs look like mine. Sometimes I have to offer support more than once — that’s normal.
We can’t always recognize when we need help/relief. The knee jerk is refusal.
The TSA officer who searched my bag pulled out my glass jar of coconut oil and looked up at me, looked around and slid it back into the bag.
He said, “I get it. But they may not let you bring it back. Safe travels.”

In my research for my final @QueensMFA poetry manuscript, I gathered facts abt #BibleWomen.
Fact:
The Bible— including the Old Testament, New Testament, and Apocrypha (yes, y’all need to read that too) is abt 1.1M words long.
Women make up 1.2% of the words spoken, 14k.
