How does supply and demand work? No country in the G7 has grown its housing stock more than Canada since 2004. Supply! But no G7 country has come to adding more people, in fact more people than housing. Demand No country in the G7 has seen as much price growth as Canada Truly hard to grasp.
It has done none of those things. This is detestable scapegoating.

Europe’s migrant population exploded by 40.8 million, or 67%, between 2000 and 2024. The UK added the most migrants in absolute terms (7.1 million), followed by Spain (6.8 million) and Germany (6.4 million).

New from NYT: By executive action alone, the Trump administration has accomplised the largest cuts to legal immigration since the 1920s. Muslim and African migration is down 90%. Visa issuance to Asia — including India and China — and Latin America has fallen across the board.

What annoys me about Restore discourse is the idea that effective political praxis is spouting ankle flashing rhetorical signifiers like "millions must go", in the hope that this "radicalises" the masses.

These immigrants are culturally destitute, these people are seeking deliverance from poverty, filth, and all the inequalities of non-western societies, they see the west as some prophesied paradise. but they don’t care for the history, culture and the way of life of the west-

Quite remarkable: a daily peptide pill lowered LDL cholesterol by 57% in a trial of 2,904 adults, nearly all already taking statins. Placebo LDL rose 3%. At one year, the enlicitide group was still 50% below baseline. Adverse-event rates were similar in both groups.
There is an FDA-approved peptide pill that lowered “bad” LDL cholesterol by about 56% compared with placebo, on top of statins. High LDL is one of the main risk factors for heart disease. It's linked to heart attacks, strokes, and more. Here's the breakdown: (1/16)

NEW | EV Adoption is booming around the world The Hormuz crisis once again revealed the risks of an energy system reliant on fossil fuels and countries are taking notice. Growing EV fleets have saved oil importers more than $20 billion since the start of the war.

Ethnic minorities make up 60% of Dutch, 50% of Portuguese, 47% of Belgian, 44% of Italian, and 42% of Austrian passport holders in the UK. Imagine how big the influx would be if we were to rejoin? There are far more non-Europeans with EU passports now than in 2016.

I've been prototyping an automated peer review project. With current models you get human level peer review for about $0.10 of tokens. For $5 you can rederive every result, check every statistical inference, and audit every paper cited in both directions. There are about 100m papers in the scientific corpus. Most are not important. Many are sloppy. For structural reasons it's essentially impossible to change published work, even to correct a typo. For $500m today you can thoroughly audit every paper ever written. Every p-hacked result, every plagiarist, every fabrication, every citation club, everything. I don't have $500m so instead I build a tree, focusing on the 1% of papers that carry 99% of the signal, doing a cheap first pass looking for obvious problems. I can find 90% of the nonsense for a few hundred dollars of tokens. Any guesses where the biggest surprises will be found?

This is insane. A Sudanese 'asylum seeker' was ordered to leave his hotel because of his bad behaviour. So he set it on fire. If the blaze were not contained, up to 170 people could have been burnt alive. When security found him, he was sat there 'smiling at them'. His sentence? 31 months. That's the exact same sentence Lucy Connolly received after she posted on social media about setting fire to a hotel. But this Sudanese man actually did it. Yet they got the SAME SENTENCE. We will end two tier Britain. End the systematic discrimination against white people in British policing and justice. We will ensure any foreign national who commits a crime on British soil is deported.

Today, I announced that there will be NO ASYLUM SYSTEM under a Reform government. It will be suspended. Since 2000, we have granted legions of people asylum. Whilst some fled persecution, many have scammed Britain. They came illegally - by lorry or boat, or by overstaying their visa. And then claimed asylum. Most have received hundreds of thousands of pounds in benefits and state support whilst here - NHS, dental care, food, hotels, HMOs, and welfare. Terrorists, murderers and rapists have broken in. It is a national security emergency. Successive Prime Ministers have betrayed our country by failing to stop this. As Prime Minister, I will end the scam. But what we've set out today goes beyond this. The scale of the betrayal is so great a major response is needed. That’s why Zia and I gave more detail on Operation Restoring Justice today. All of the Tories' and Labour's immigration schemes - Afghanistan, Palestine - will immediately be closed. Every asylum grant given in the prior 5 years will be reviewed. Those who came illegally, or from a safe country, will have their asylum grant revoked and be deported. Countries that refuse to take back their illegal migrants and criminals will face visa bans, sanctions, and tariffs. The few who genuinely cannot go back to their home country will go to safe third countries we strike deals with. We will review everyone granted asylum under the ludicrously suppressed Afghanistan schemes. Those who directly helped our armed forces in combat will keep their asylum grant. That’s only right. But all the others will have to leave. If Afghanistan won't take them back, we will strike deals with safe third countries to do so. All foreign nationals convicted of crime will be deported. All migrant welfare will end. All the loopholes will be closed. And we will make it IMPOSSIBLE to live in Britain illegally. We'll massively hike penalties for landlords renting to, and businesses employing, illegal migrants. And we'll enable and encourage all parts of local government to conduct migration checks - housing, trading standards, environmental health, and licensing. This will mean 10 times more migration enforcement capacity. And, critically, councils will be allowed to KEEP the fines on landlords and employers they levy. Councils will then have a huge incentive to identify illegal migrants and send the data to Deportation Command, who will oversee the exit of these illegal migrants from Britain. Councils will therefore be incentivised to hire more officials, identify more illegal migrants, and levy more fines. This will make it impossible to live in Britain illegally, let alone thrive. Illegal migrants won't be able to rent or work, and certainly not get welfare. Hundreds of thousands will voluntarily leave. And we will enforce the deportation of everyone illegally here who doesn't. All in all, this plan will see well over a million people who are here illegally (or who came here illegally) leave Britain. It will restore justice.

It's absolutely insane for this guy to blame his country's ills on "neoliberalism" when French government spending as a percentage of the economy is currently higher than it was in the Soviet Union right before it collapsed. France is currently running a 5% deficit to GDP, the nation's debt to GDP stands at nearly 120%, the country has one of the most generous welfare and entitlement systems in the world, and French Boomers living off taxpayer-funded pensions earn more than working adults. Is the "neoliberalism" in the room right now? Communists like Melenchon just throw around the word "neoliberalism" to mean "thing that I don't like", as if that's a sufficient distraction from the fact that the last 40 years have been ruled by their ideology.
French Presidential Candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon: A world is coming to an end. That world is the one that has ruled for 40 years: neoliberalism, which spread across the entire planet after using Pinochet's dictatorship as its laboratory.
