Onomastics in Iranian Sign Language: Personal and Place Names in the Iranian Deaf Community
This paper explores how names in Esharani carry identity, culture, and social meaning in the Iranian Deaf community.
2/We examine both personal sign names and place names, showing how they are created within Deaf cultural contexts rather than derived from spoken language.

I watched it last night, & it filled me with pride to be a Gallaudet alum.Deaf President Now made waves around the world.The movement touched my heart, and the issues it raised are still unresolved in many places.But I believe change is coming-for Deaf communities everywhere.
One example from Iran: the president of the I.R. Deaf Sports Federation has always been a hearing man. For many years, hearing individuals have held this position. Only once, in 1978, was a Deaf person elected as president—but he was pushed out by hearing authorities.
