Elko looking at Sarkisian this week.

And y’all thought Mike Elko was the Texas football coach who was on the hot seat…?

Personally, I favor a 96-team playoff where everyone gets to play about 12 games over the course of 3 or 4 months.
BREAKING: The College Football Playoff is nearing a deal to expand to 24 teams, per @PeteThamel. The new format will launch in 2027 and is expected to be finalized in the near future, pending final approvals.

If his name was Joe Smith, he’d be at Baylor or TCU because he wouldn’t have been overrated out of high school.

Well, of course they would *say* that . . .
DHS says ICE is not planning operations targeting polling locations.

I’m a little unclear as to why this is framed as it is. Why not say “Next week, we find out if Georgia is a national title contender….”? Who has Georgia played so far to warrant such deference?
Georgia (5-0) at Alabama (5-0). Next week, we find out if Bama is a national title contender this season or merely a College Football Playoff contender. The Tide are better than it appeared on paper preseason. Fun to be the pleasant surprise team playing with no pressure.

I will never understand why this dude has decided to devote his life to undermining the US by advocating for open borders. Who does that?

The statue of Prometheus is finally finished. It was cast in Paris, crossed the Atlantic, and was assembled at Starbase. It took us 100 days to go from nothing to this. People of the West, we have lived through an era devoid of dreams, devoid of destiny. But the time has come to reclaim our dream of antiquity. In a few months, we will start building a new city. It will be the most magnificent city in all of history. After all, the great dream of the West has always been to rebuild Rome. Come walk beside us in this endeavor. The world is waiting.

It’s people with retarded ideas like this that are ruining our country and forcing us to live in unnecessary decline.

BREAKING: Ken Griffin is giving Carnegie Mellon University $3 billion — the largest gift in the history of American higher education. Griffin is a Harvard alumnus and has previously given the Ivy League school $500 million. But he publicly rebuked Harvard after October 7th and has only given modestly to the university since then. As for the CMU gift, $2 billion will support a new campus in Miami. $500 million will go to the school of computer science on the main campus in Pittsburgh. Another $500 million will be “flexible support.”

The absolute numbers of migrants should terrify you. We've absorbed the largest movement of humanity in the history of planet, and from cultures that are far more alien to America than we did in the 1870s or the 1920s. Those waves were mostly Southern and Eastern European Catholics. Not Muslims or Hindus. But even then, with far fewer overall immigrants who were mostly Christian, assimiliation was an enormous challenge. The immigrant waves of the 1870s-1920s were so controversial, in fact, that we passed the sweeping 1924 Immigration Act that capped non Western Hemisphere immigration and placed quotas that allowed entry to only 2% of the total foreign-born population of each nationality already living in the U.S. based on the 1890 Census. Likely 1/3 of all those immigrants returned home, most due to financial and cultural reasons. Now we give migrants handouts, lawyers, and apartments, and shame the native population by calling them racist xenophobes if they don't like how their neighborhoods, cities, and workplaces are being transformed. And we certainly don't ask newcomers to assimilate to American culture. And I never said that foreigners didn't contribute to some of America's greatest accomplishments, but it's gone too far. We are likely over 15% foreign born population in a much more populous, much more crowded country than our ancestors inhabited. How many foreigners need to move here before you'll be satisfied?
Hilarious how Andrew's graph makes absolute numbers much more visible than percentages, b/c otherwise you'd easily see that the % today is lower than in 1870, 1890, or 1910-1930 (Oh, and some of the key figures in the space program were foreigners... who had worked for Hitler)

Celebrated public intellectual (CPI) talks to progressive middle school principal (PMSP) who ran a school that manifestly failed her daughter and many other students. They are buds, have the same politics, etc. CPI: "Um, so, it seems that my daughter didn't really learn algebra in the algebra class where she was getting As all year. You are a masterful fundraiser and school advocate, which I assume are the same skills you'd need to effectively run a school (because I have a lot of wisdom and life experience)." PMSP: "Yes, yes. You see, the problem isn't that some schools are run more effectively than others. The problem is inequality and segregation." CPI: "That makes sense, because Success Academy and Zeta don't exist. They are part of a racist right-wing conspiracy. Also, schools in Mississippi improved a lot because Mississippi embraced radically egalitarian program of race-conscious integrationism, not because it did a better job of teaching kids to match letters and sounds and giving them background knowledge to understand stuff." PMSP: "Yes, what you really need to do is give the same people who've been running the schools this entire time drastically more money, and then trust us to live our truth. It's really important not to have standardized tests, though, because standardized tests stress people out and are obviously racist." CPI: "I'm really glad we worked this out together. Thank you for this. It's sort of like I'm getting to reflect on stuff, and on reflection -- I've been right about everything all along, only in a new, more personal, more meaningful way." PMSP: "I'm so glad we've worked this out. Don't forget: schools can only get better when we have a just society, and schools should definitely employ more unionized professionals and paraprofessionals in the meantime. Because justice."

So . . . OU fans, I guess it’s on you guys now to read the field for Mateer and help him make good throws. Good luck with all that. 😬
That postgame presser offered lots of comments that were cause for concern, but this one takes the cake.

Not sure if you're aware of this, but you will be representing the United States of America in Congress and not Mexico.
215 years ago, Mexicans fought an empire that demanded our land and our labor. And we won. I'll carry that fight with me to Congress as New York's first Mexican American representative. And I'm strengthened not just by Mexico's history but its present. Last month I met comrades in Morena who are standing up to the empires and corporations that have always taken from us – and building a government for the working class. ¡Viva la Independencia, Viva México!
