“O God, who chose to manifest
the blessed hope of your eternal Kingdom
by the toil of John de Brébeuf,
Isaac Jogues and their companions
and by the shedding of their blood,
graciously grant that through their intercession
our faith may be strengthened day by day” (Collect).
Today is the 100th World Mission Sunday. The theme for this centennial observance is “One in Christ, United in Mission.” As Pope Leo XIV has described our task as missionary disciples united in Christ, we are called “To make Christ’s love visible.”
“I am the wheat of Christ to be ground by the teeth of beasts, that I may be found to be pure bread.” St. Ignatius of Antioch, pray for us. Inspire us to be faithful witnesses to Christ Jesus our Lord.

“In Christ we were also chosen, destined in accord with the purpose of the One who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will, so that we might exist for the praise of his glory, we who first hoped in Christ” (Eph 1:11–14). Sacred Heart of Jesus, hear us.
O God, who through your Spirit
raised up Saint Teresa of Jesus
to show the Church the way to seek perfection,
grant that we may always be nourished
by the food of her heavenly teaching
and fired with longing for true holiness (Collect)
Saint Teresa of Jesus, pray for us.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law…. If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit” (Gal 5:18–25).
Tomorrow, Pope Leo XIV will undergo surgery. Archbishop Thompson invites the faithful of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis to join him in praying for our Holy Father’s healing, strength and recovery. #PopeLeoXIV
“Thus says the Lord: Let whoever is thirsty come to me and drink. Streams of living water will flow from within the one who believes in me” (Jn 7:37–38). We are nourished by springs of living water that flow from the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
“From the rising to the setting of the sun
is the name of the Lord to be praised.
High above all nations is the Lord;
above the heavens is his glory” (Ps 113).
Blessed be the name of the Lord forever!
Prayers for the health and wellbeing of Pope Leo XIV.

“Many are invited, but few are chosen” (Mt 22:1–14). Today the Church remembers Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli (Pope Saint John XXIII) son of a large Italian farming family, who dedicated his papacy to Christian Unity and Peace on Earth. The Second Vatican Council is his legacy.
As we honor the month of October as Respect Life Month, may we strive to be consistent in long-standing Catholic teaching of upholding the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.
The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty
While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it” (Lk 11:27–28).

“I will pasture my sheep; I myself will give them rest, says the Lord” (Ez 34:15). The Lord calls us each of us by name. If we follow him, he will shepherd us, nurture us and protects us. Sacred Heart of Jesus, lead us.
“And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you” (Lk 11:5–13). Jesus invites us to ask for whatever we need and to trust that God will provide.
God never asks us to make the journey alone. ✨
Through the gift of guardian angels, we're reminded that God's loving care is never far away.
