ALT Many fish and sharks swimming around a coral-encrusted shipwreck. Archaeologists are working to identify and mitigate the polluting effects of shipwrecks, many of which (particularly from the Second World War) contain large volumes of petroleum-based fuel, chemical warfare agents and unexploded ordnance, with the potential to cause serious environmental hazards should the corroding vessels leak.

ALT The Nunalleq Digital Museum home screen, showing four illustrations depicting the area surrounding Quinhagak and Nunalleq in all four seasons. A flat, coastal landscape is covered variously with snow and/or different-coloured grass depending on the season, dotted with modern and archaeological features and point-of-interest that, when clicked on, allow for a more in-depth exploration of specific aspects of Yup'ik life.
