A bridge above the road🌉 A stopped vehicle in the lane🚍 The difference matters. 4D imaging radar measures height alongside distance, speed, and horizontal position. With high resolution, it helps distinguish overhead structures from road hazards and separate small objects from larger ones nearby. Our latest blog explains how this technology works and why it matters for eyes-off driving. Read the blog > arberobotics.com/4d-imaging-…

When will privately owned autonomous vehicles finally become a reality, and what technologies will make them safe enough for widespread adoption? In a new Ynet discussion, Arbe CEO Ram Machness explains why cameras alone cannot meet the safety standards expected of autonomous vehicles, and how high-definition imaging radar provides reliable 4D perception, including in difficult weather conditions. He also shares his outlook for the market, predicting that China could introduce privately owned autonomous vehicles as early as the end of 2027, ahead of Western markets. Years of radar innovation. A significant new market. A proud milestone for Arbe. We’re excited to announce our entry into defense and homeland security with the Alerion C-UAS Radar, bringing the ultra-high-resolution sensing capabilities we’ve spent years developing for automotive to counter-drone defense. Alerion is designed to detect and track hard-to-detect threats, including FPV, mini, autonomous, and fiber-optic drones. It detects the drone itself rather than its emissions, maintaining the track regardless of how the drone is controlled. Compact, lightweight, and low-power, Alerion has been successfully field-tested for defense applications and is now being evaluated by C-UAS integrators worldwide. We’re proud to celebrate this expansion and excited about the opportunities ahead. Discover Alerion > bit.ly/4yGkwJY

We are beyond excited to announce that one of the world’s largest automotive groups has selected HIRAIN Technologies’s imaging radar, powered by Arbe’s ultra-high-resolution radar chipset, for a L3 automated driving passenger vehicle program in China, across multiple brands under the group. Hirain will manufacture, supply, and integrate the radar system, with series- production deliveries scheduled to begin in Q4 2027, ahead of vehicle start of production. This win puts our imaging radar technology on a clear path toward series production, marking a defining milestone in its commercialization. Read more here> bit.ly/4cwzyct

Tesla’s internal document, reportedly titled “Radar Saves Us,” raises a fundamental question about the limitations of camera-only perception. Nine “Full Self-Driving” crashes cited by NHTSA occurred in conditions where cameras are known to struggle, including sun glare, fog, and airborne dust. No single sensor can handle every scenario. True safety requires complementary sensing technologies with different strengths and limitations. When cameras are challenged, ultra-high-resolution radar can provide the critical redundancy autonomous vehicles need. Read the full article> bit.ly/4gG5LRd

What will it take to make fully autonomous driving safe and reliable? 🛜 In a new interview with DIGITIMES Asia, Arbe CEO Ram Machness discusses why radar is essential for autonomous driving, how high channel counts improve perception, and why high-definition radar is expanding beyond passenger vehicles. Cameras provide important visual information, but their performance can be affected by fog, rain, glare, darkness, and other visibility limitations. Radar measures both the distance and velocity of objects and remains reliable in challenging weather. Most Level 4 autonomous fleets, including Waymo and Baidu’s Apollo Go, use cameras, lidar, and radar. Level 3 vehicles from Audi, Honda, and BMW also combine these sensing technologies. But not all radar systems are the same. Radar quality depends not only on resolution, but also on channel count. More channels provide denser information and help reduce false alarms. Most radars today have 12 channels, advanced systems have 64, and the highest number currently used in a vehicle is 192. Arbe’s next-generation technology offers more than 2,300 channels. Phoenix uses 48 transmitter and 48 receiver channels, while maintaining low power consumption and cost relative to the significant increase in channel count. This provides the dense radar data required by AI perception models. Three developments could bring autonomous driving significantly closer: high-channel-count radar, making radar data accessible to AI models originally developed for cameras, and continued progress in AI reasoning. High-definition radar is becoming a core perception technology for autonomous driving, agriculture, heavy machinery, and defense. Read the full DIGITIMES interview bit.ly/4h67yiq

Hardware first, AI second. That’s not just an architecture choice; it’s a fundamental constraint of perception. With 2,304 virtual channels, high-resolution radar gives perception algorithms richer, more densely sampled information about the physical world. Lower-channel-count systems can use AI to enhance resolution and infer missing detail, but inference is not measurement. The less information the sensor captures, the more the AI must rely on learned assumptions to fill the gaps. Bottom line: AI can infer, but inference isn’t ground truth.
