ALT Championing water reuse, one conversation at a time! Water scarcity is one of the biggest challenges we face, but the solutions are already here. At Aquality, we love sharing how technologies like rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling can transform sustainable design. And earlier this week, Scott headed to Harrogate to deliver a CPD seminar with SMR Architects. As an award-winning practice working across commercial, residential, retail and logistics sectors, SMR Architects is in a prime position to integrate smart, bespoke water reuse technologies into future developments. The session sparked fantastic discussions, debunking common myths and diving deep into how we can make sustainable design standard practice. Huge thanks to the SMR team for their enthusiasm and engagement—we’re excited to see where this collaboration leads! Let’s make every drop count.

ALT When Redworx MEP needed a fully-compliant rainwater harvesting system on a very tight deadline for the 99QVS retrofit in London, they turned to Aquality. Completed earlier this year by Mace Construct, 99QVS was a major multi-million-pound refurbishment transforming the original structure built in 2004 into a modern, sustainable landmark, achieving BREEAM Outstanding. Collaborating closely with Redworx MEP, Aquality delivered a comprehensive rainwater harvesting system supplying treated non-potable water for WC flushing and irrigation—drastically reducing mains water demand and lowering operational environmental impact. This included the use of extra carbon filters due to the green roof space for even better water quality. The Challenge: The entire process—design, installation and commissioning—had to be completed within just a few weeks. Thanks to seamless coordination from order to operationality, our team hit the deadline without a hitch, leaving another client completely satisfied.

ALT At the IWA World Water Congress in Glasgow, one session really stood out: “From Drain to Gain: Enablers for Economic Growth Through Water Reuse,” hosted by Enabling Water Smart Communities (EWSC). An expert panel featuring Lutz Johnen, Chairman of the UK Water Reuse Association and founder of Aquality, alongside John Curtin, Daniel Johns, Celeste Morgan, Geoff Darch, George Warren and Vikki Williams, explored water reuse successes and challenges, and what the UK can learn as we look to scale reuse. The workshop highlighted the fact water reuse is increasingly less a technology problem and more a systems, policy and delivery problem. The technology is increasingly available. The bigger challenge is creating the regulatory frameworks, planning approaches, investment models and delivery mechanisms that allow reuse to move from individual projects to something that can genuinely support resilient communities and economic growth.

ALT Aquality proudly supported UKWRA’s Water Reuse Week 2026, driving sustainable water practices through several key events: • Welsh Parliament: Paul Davies MS sponsored a launch event focusing on Wales's water resilience and planning guidance for rainwater and greywater systems. • Westminster: Chairman Lutz Johnen advocated alongside MPs to make water reuse standard in new developments by 2030. • Online Conference: Lutz chaired a conference featuring keynotes, panels, case studies, and CPD seminars. • Clay Farm Visit: Hosted Southern Water at the UK's first communal stormwater system (built in 2018), saving an estimated 20–25 litres of mains water per person daily over the years. • Education: Delivered CPD seminars to engineers and consultants in London, Manchester, Cardiff and Southampton. It was a high-impact week dedicated to tackling water stress and promoting water reuse adoption!

ALT During Water Reuse Week UK (14–20 Sept), Aquality is supporting the UK Water Reuse Association (UKWRA) to promote rainwater harvesting, stormwater management, and greywater recycling as immediate solutions for climate resilience and flood mitigation. Key events include: • Policy Events: Aquality MD Lutz Johnen and Lee Pitcher MP speak at Westminster (15 Sept), alongside support at the Welsh Senedd for cross-party pledges to make water reuse standard in new developments by 2030. • Industry Insight: A virtual UKWRA conference on 16 Sept featuring Lutz Johnen and keynote speaker Dr Julia Buckley MP. • Solutions in Action: A showcase of the UK’s first communal stormwater harvesting project at Clay Farm, Cambridge. • Knowledge Sharing: CPD seminars focused on technical deployment. Aquality calls for mandatory water reuse in new developments and updated policy frameworks to stop treating water as a single-use resource.
