As we remember those that served for our country, our very own Mel at our charity shop in Helston took her time to curate a window display in remembrance.
Mel Shares:
‘I like to take a lot of time with the remembrance window as we are a garrison town with RNAS Culdrose. I am now a veteran’s wife, but still a member of the Culdrose Military Wives choir, so remembrance is always a very special time. I am a stickler for poppies with my daughters!! We are very proud of their dad and the 36 years he served, when you work out the amount of days into years that he was away from home, it equates to about 6 years. Not a lot compared to many years ago. ‘
Uniforms were graciously donated by Rachel Mallett, Craig Little as well as Mel’s Husband.
Today we remember and give thanks to those that put their lives on the line and honour the fallen.

Cleethorpes Pier is 150 years old! 🎉
Designed by Messrs J.E. and A. Dowson of London and built by Head Wrightson of Thornaby on Tees, the pier opened on this day (4 August) in 1873!

The Walker Cup - 2028
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort
Big changes on the horizon! First, after the 2025 Match at Cypress Point, the Walker Cup will shift back to even-numbered years for the first time since 1938 at St. Andrews.
Second, and better still, in 2028, the Walker Cup will be held for the first time on a publicly accessible American golf course. Every single Walker Cup on U.S. soil from 1922 through 2025 was or will be at a private course.
In 2021, USGA announced that Bandon Dunes Resort and its 5 18 hole golf courses would play host to 13 USGA championships from 2022 through 2045, including the 2028 Walker Cup.
The USGA has yet to announce which of the Bandon courses will host, but with Pacific Dunes, Bandon Dunes, Old Macdonald, Bandon Trails and Sheep Ranch, the USGA has five top-100 courses to choose from. Personally, I’d love to see the USGA play the event over two or even four of the courses.
