What are your reasons *not* to talk to someone who disagrees with you politically?
I'll be joining @moniguzman, @wilksopinion, April Lawson, and @ManuMeel_ for @abraverway podcast Q&A to discuss your answers to this question.

This is exciting news!
@BraverAngels has a new podcast, “A Braver Way," hosted by Braver Angels Senior Fellow for Public Practice Mónica Guzmán. Here Monia explains how the podcast came to be, and why there is such a need for a podcast like this to help show everyday Americans HOW they can bridge divides in their own lives: youtube.com/watch?v=E3s6FJGN…

It was a pleasure to sit down with @LexiOHudson to hear her breathe new life into a concept some see as obsolete: civility.
Her book “The Soul of Civility” is being praised as a must read for those who care about the social culture of modern society…though it is rooted in ancient wisdom.

Great to be at the Faith Matters Conference today with Judge Thomas Griffith to discuss our #DisagreeBetter initiative and what role people — religious and nonreligious — can play in healing our nation.
Three things you can do to decrease depolarization: 1) Turn off cable news, 2) watch what you post on social media, and 3) get proximate with people who are different than you.

My friend @moniguzman continues to deepen human connection in journalism and the work of bridging the partisan divide. Now with the new @abraverway she takes this work to another level.

"Conflict can be a deep form of encounter...where something of their spirit gets added to yours."
My friend @AprilALawson is one of the deepest thinkers, and most effective actors, in the civic renewal movement.
This conversation shows why:

Easy to say he should've ignored his staff. We didn't @braverangels however when we debated Voter Fraud despite the outrage.

If you follow ideas around bridging divides but haven't heard from my brilliant colleague @AprilALawson, listen to this. 🔥
Conflict has to be a good thing. There’s no other way we’re gonna make it - in our families or our country.
The good news is, there are inspiring examples of this around you every day if you can learn to see them.

Some people say you can’t be a conservative and a feminist.
It turns out those people are wrong.

This extraordinary community fights to build trust across the divide everyday. Because of April's work we've done exactly that in colleges and communities across America on issues that hurt the most.

Who are the most important conservative thinkers in the world? One surely is @yhazony - a man who is deeply criticized. Is he well understood?
I leave it to you to judge. He's a foremost voice for national conservatism. Anyone concerned with the conservative movement should listen:

What a refreshing day of healthy debates with @braverangels @goACTA @BridgeUSA_ Campus Debates & Discourse symposium! Thanks for being a good example @GovCox @GovofCO #CivilityMatters #DisagreeBetter
Utah and Colorado compete over a lot of things – who has the better mountains, the better skiing, the better economy, etc. I think it’s Utah, and @GovofCO thinks it's Colorado. But one thing we agree on, is that Americans need to learn how to #DisagreeBetter and that healthy conflict results in better policy. This year as chair and vice chair of @NatlGovsAssoc, we’re setting out to do just that. We hope you’ll join us!

The structures that used to bring differently thinking people into positive contact with one another are now relegated to philanthropic grasps at hope...All of this leaves the human mind susceptible to the temptations of tribal demonization. comment.org/building-trust-a… @AprilALawson

The College Debate and Discourse Alliance produces a sort of alchemy; individuals with disparate, often wildly conflicting PoV show up. They leave with a better understanding of others' perspectives. But even more importantly, they emerge with a new respect for *the process itself*. Bring it to your campus, be in the room where it happens. goacta.org/initiatives/colle…

"These huge issues need to be sat down and looked at. It doesn’t mean that you’re not angry or you’re not firm in your position.
What it does mean is that you’re trying to listen to the other side, and you’re trying to respectfully express your opinion and continue to have a discussion, until you can see if there’s anything that’s common."
