Presiding Officer Francis Escudero announced the following schedule to make up for trial dates lost to the court’s recess, budget deliberations, ASEAN-related break and holidays:
Nov 9 – Hearing at 10 a.m.; proceedings to resume after Senate’s legislative session, if applicable
Presiding Officer Francis Escudero has given the prosecution until October 23 to submit its formal offer of documentary and object evidence supporting Article II on unexplained wealth in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
The Senate impeachment court accepts the withdrawal of Articles I, III and IV, but applies different conditions to the articles withdrawn.
Article III — withdrawn without prejudice. The prosecution had withdrawn this article before presenting evidence. It cannot be revived in the current trial, but the ruling limits the withdrawal’s effect to this trial.
Lead defense counsel Sheila Sison says the prosecution’s decision to drop three of the four impeachment articles against Vice President Sara Duterte will not affect how the defense plans to present its evidence.
"We believe that even as we respect the prosecution’s decision to withdraw the 3articles...the prosecution nonetheless cannot unilaterally determine how the defense will proceed, or which accusations the judges may hear,
BREAKING: The prosecution drops three of the four articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte, retaining only Article II on unexplained wealth.
DAY 39: The impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte resumes on Tuesday, October 13, with the Senate impeachment court set to tackle administrative matters before going on a break for budget deliberations.

Senator-judge Robin Padilla questioned witness Alexander Cabrera over Isla Lipana’s role as independent auditor of MFT Group of Companies, which has been linked to complaints involving alleged losses suffered by OFWs.
Diokno replied: “Buong-buo po ang tiwala ko kay Atty. Cabrera.”
He said his understanding was that Isla Lipana’s client was the parent company, while the subsidiaries that encountered problems were not served by the firm.
