I was today years old when I learned that i.e. and e.g. are NOT the same and cannot be used interchangeably.
And to make matters worse... I've typically defaulted to being an i.e. guy whenever giving examples, but e.g. literally means "for example," so I've been mainly doing it wrong my whole life.
