The brass neck of Jeremy Hunt claiming Tories have lifted people out of poverty is breathtaking This month UN said UK is ‘in violation of international law’ over poverty levels & Joseph Rowntree Foundation, say in 2022 3.8 million people experienced destitution #AutumnStatement

Repressing a person for expressing that your words resemble 1930 Germany kinda makes you look like 1930 Germany

Calling gay men paedophiles during the Section 28 era was homophobic. Calling trans people paedophiles now is transphobic. It’s really not that difficult to understand.

Someone has to say it: Elon Musk has lied for 27 years about his credentials. He does not have a BS in Physics, or any technical field. Did not get into a PhD program. Dropped out in 1995 & was illegal. Later, investors quietly arranged a diploma - but not in science. 🧵1/
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The University of Pennsylvania considers Musk to be a graduate of both the economics department and the physics department. "Elon Musk earned a B.A. in physics and a B.S. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. The degrees were awarded on May 19, 1997." -Penn, 2019 snopes.com/fact-check/mus…

This thread is absolutely SENDING me
Thinking of a new email signature other than "best". You'll never take me alive, Nate
This story is goddamn amazing. The fact that it was boys, specifically, who saw how their classmates were feeling and decided to KEEP A JOINT LOG. Middle schoolers! I love these kids. Reading this story made me tear up.

You weren’t hurt because you’re weak. You weren’t hurt because you’re strong. You were hurt because a perpetrator was in your life and chose to harm. The perpetrator gets 100% of the responsibility, blame, shame, and guilt. Period.

A reminder that someone being an expert doesn’t make them an expert on everything. If an expert speaks to a topic outside what they specialize in, take it with a grain of salt — and if you’re considering acting on their advice, maybe see what experts in that field say.

We won’t end the drug death crisis in Scotland until we end the trauma crisis our children and families are enduring single every day in this country.

One of the things I hate so much about the phrase 'pro-life' is that these people have nothing but contempt for the life of the mother or for the life of a child brought into the world against its mother's desire, intention and love.

There should never be another article asking why survivors don’t tell or leave - there should only be articles asking why survivors are not believed, protected, and defended and why perpetrators are not held accountable.

This whole thread is a brilliant read
1/ABOUT 30. IMHO the UK now faces a crisis that is, in some ways, even greater than the one we faced when confronting Hitler. In WW2 at least we had politicians of integrity, who upheld our democratic values, and around whom the nation could unite. There was no enemy within.
